Hi Snap guys and gals.

Fibre is available in my area as of 1st of December and I would like to go ahead with snap for this service but I have a few questions I hope can be answered.

1. I have a shared driveway - In this case I need permission from the Neighbors or Home Owners?

1a. What forms do I require? There are forms on Chorus website and Ultra Fast Fibre - I know Snap! uses UFF as thier contractor in my area. If       you guys can point me to the correct forms myself and neighbors need to complete that will be great.

1b. Can I fill these forms out and give to Snap/Chorus/UFF before work is started to speed the process up?

2.  I understand I may not have my UFB setup this side of christmas due to no work being carried out over the christmas break.

2a. Can I arrange an ADSL/VDSL plan now with the Fritz!box and have this changed over when UFB is up and running?

3.  Are there any Routers people can recommend other than the Fritz!box, I love it's features and ease of use and speed but the cost is a big issue for me. I have been a fan of Linksys/Cisco in the past - Do they offer anything that works with Snaps network?

Can I sign up now even though UFB is not officially available?

All the questions I can think of at the moment but I will update this thread.

Thanks

Hello... Our robot found some keywords in your post, so here is an automated reply with some important things to note regarding broadband speeds.

If you are posting regarding DSL speeds please check that

- you have reset your modem and router

- your PC (or other PCs in your LAN) is not downloading large files when you are testing

- you are not being throttled by your ISP due to going over the monthly cap

- your tests are always done on an ethernet connection to the router - do not use wireless for testing

- you read this topic and follow the instructions there.

Make sure you provide information for other users to help you. If you have not already done it, please EDIT your post and add this now:

- Your ISP and plan

- Type of connection (ADSL, ADSL2, VDSL)

- Your modem DSL stats (do not worry about posting Speedtest, we need sync rate, attenuation and noise margin)

- Your general location (or street)

- If you are rural or urban

- If you know your connection is to an exchange, cabinet or conklin

- If your connection is to a ULL or wholesale service

- If you have done an isolation test as per the link above

Most of the problems with speed are likely to be related to internal wiring issues. Read this discussion to find out more about this. Your ISP is not intentionally slowing you down today (unless you are on a managed plan). Also if this is the school holidays it's likely you will notice slower than usual speed due to more users online.

A master splitter is required for VDSL2 and in most cases will improve speeds on DSL connections. Regular disconnections can be a monitored alarm or a set top box trying to connect. If there's an alarm connected to your line even if you don't have an alarm contract it may still try to connect so it's worth checking.

I recommend you read these two blog posts:

- Is your premises phone wiring impacting your broadband performance? (very technical)

- Are you receiving a substandard ULL ADSL2+ connection from your ISP?

1. http://www.ultrafastfibre.co.nz/files/Right%20of%20way%20consent%20form.pdf
2a. Yes
3. You can use any router that supports VLAN tagging on the WAN port for UFB. Just keep in mind if you want to use the Snap Plus VOIP service, ie you still want a phone line after UFB installation, the fritzbox is the only officially supported device. Other devices work fine, its just snap will not give you any support if you have issues with them.
edit: Cisco is generally good but pricey. Linksys is fairly poor these days imo, they used to be king back in the WRT days.

Ok sounds like the Fritz is the best way to go so that is what ill do.

This form is only required to be signed by the other property sharing the drive? Name, Address, signature and date is all they need?

Do I receive a form to fill out once I have signed with snap my MY Home owner to approve the install?

Thanks
