Hello,

I was looking at the 2D site and noticed that as a new customer I could get $65/month bb connection and also get a $200 credit, along with Amazon Prime Videos if signing up for 12months.

As an existing customer (not on a plan), if I sign up for 12 months, from reading the terms and conditions at best I would get Amazon Prime Video...no $200 credit and no discounted monthly fee....I hate the whole lets favour new customers over existing (loyal) ones (although I understand its how they reel people in)...but has anyone tried to see if customer services will apply the new customer deals to existing customers?

Get in touch with them and negotiate. I re-signed for 12 months last month and got the $200 credit and Amazon Prime. Most people seem to be able to get the benefits if they re-sign.

Strangely, they didn't offer Prime but the web portal allowed me to sign up since I had a recent 12 month contract. Not sure what happened there but I'm not complaining.

Do you have a Pay monthly mobile plan on 2degrees or not? Can't really tell from your post sorry

If your fixed line broadband is not under contract then you can resign and get the latest offers and this was confirmed on the 2degrees Facebook page

@2degreescare Can you jump in here and confirm?

Cool okay - so signing up on a 12 month contract sort of means you are in effect a "new customer" under the definition of their terms and conditions *shrug*

Yeah I have a pay monthly plan.

Sounds like I need to get on the phone

Its standard practice for companies t offer new customers a better deal than existing.

Entice new business and try your best not to lose what you have...not always easy, but someone is always going to get miffed (me included from time to time).

I have always managed to do this Meridian though I needed to sign up for another 12 months.

Its always worthwhile asking -  Mind you I am not very loyal to any of my providers as I do shop around for car insurance,

power and now with my Internet when the contract is up.

This is wise to do. Companies have no loyalty to their customers (as shown by offering benefits to new customers only) so why show any to them. You're overpaying if you don't shop around.

As an existing customer I phoned up 2D when resigning for another 12 months. Got the $200 credit an missed the Amazon Prime membership.

Happy with that

Yeah okay - so just called. And yup they checked my account etc (said I never got any joining credit at the time) so were happy to apply everything as though I was a new customer. Happy as. YMMV.

Thanks for the feedback/thoughts people. TBH been very happy with 2D and this is another example so very happy to be remaining with them.

If you have an existing contract it will only take effect after the first one expires.

Also NO EXTRA $200 joining credit. If you had it previously you won't be able to get it again.

So the best is to looking to see what is available from other providers just before your contract expires.

The exact same happened to me, the customer service rep that i spoke with over the phone to sort it was helpful, but needed to get approval from his boss etc before he could apply the $200 credit. Its just annoying to have to jump through the hoops unneccessarily. I have been a happy 2D customer since swicthing from big pipe just over 13 months ago, but this experience did give me pause for thought.

Within minimal effort 2degrees could have locked me in for another 12 months and given me an amazing customer service experience at the same time. Its such a shame that it doesnt happen by default.

I'm trying to get the $200 credit as well by resigning. Was on hold for an hour yesterday and gave up.

Sent them an email but doubt it'll be responded to anytime soon. Been a customer since Snap days and never taken up a credit offer before so fingers crossed it gets applied before promo ends lol

Did you received the $200 13 mths ago and expect it again?? - 2degrees are a business. I would think you been offered the current promotion minus the $200 is great. most ISP's wouldn't be that generous..

Have you tried calling them and berating a manager and saying that this is unacceptable 'customer service' because you're not getting free money? /s

Is there much room for profit at these prices?
