Has anyone in the auckland area (namely Stanmore Bay/Whangaparaoa/Orewa) been having problems with speed? I usually get 1.9MB/s, even from overseas content - but for the last couple of days its been going at around 100KB/s-300KB/s. Even TradeMe has been going slow.

Tried resetting my router, but at this point, that hasn't fixed it.

(Background info: Naked DSL on Orcon+ network)

No problems here in Manly - regular download speeds of ~ 13Mbps.

I can't even connect here, I'm posting this from my phone. DSL connects, but I never get an ip address.

I can't get to the orcon site while tethered to my phone.

Massive, widespread outage here in Auckland - looks like authentication-based.

Just got back on after a long period of getting DSL sync but no IP.

Orcon support tel. overloaded - can't get through to them and gave up trying.

Your'e lucky mate, I live in the CBD and I am getting the same speeds overseas on speed tests as you get up in Orewa. Even though my modem sync is 22 down to the exchange and Orcon have read it the same.

Those with Speed problems are you running on there wholesale network or on an unbundled exchange with there own equipment there.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Running on wholesale network (Telecom) but not UBA but E-UBA ("Enhanced" .... sounds like Microsoft marketing).

Looks like they have some tweaking to do at handover link. Speed turns to cr@p very fast when other users come online ... bittorrent not functional.
