Has anyone ever copied files off a DishTV box and got them to play on a computer? Copied SATA->USB and got a selection of .mpg and .txt files, which I was very complimentary of when I saw them - but out of four shows, VLC (on linux) or Windows Media player could play only one. The others -- WMP just locked up, VLC said "TS Discontinuity". mplayer can't read it.
The show that worked was recorded off Prime; the ones that didn't were TV One .. so I suspect codec/muxing differences, perhaps SD vs HD broadcast (they're actually very different stream formats). Or is this copy protection of some kind? <big sigh>
Playing them is a very important part of salvaging recorded shows on this possibly-dying T2200.
(More info, Prime show was h264 MPEG-4, audio AAC .. standard stuff; None of my programs can work out what codec to use on the TV1 shows).
