the MAC address for each connection (wired and wireless) should be different as it is the physical address of the adapter

Hi,

Having a new problem today.  On all channels I am loosing sound. Every 4 seconds ish I loose the sound for 1 to 2 seconds.  At the moment there is one programme being recorded.

The recording finishes in 20 minutes so I will wait to see if anything changes at that stage. Otherwise I will go through the normal power down routines I guess

cheers

A few more bits of info.  I had the t2200 playing through the rca out to a dataprojector showing a movie on Maori tv on the big screen, and had the tv showing the junior world slalom champs through the tv second hdmi input.

Ending the recording did not change the loss of sound

Powering down the unit for 20 seconds didn't fix the sound either.

Disconnecting the dataprojector and re-selecting the hdmi input from the t2200 did restore the sound.

Have not been able to replicate this problem again. :-(

Tam3764:

I have used the "hard-reboot" method to force the upgrade to firmware 1.2B

I believe this is necessary because my t2200 is randomly dropping its WiFi connection. (no other device in the household does this, so its not the router).

However, I continue to experience issues with the T2200, including dropouts and signal loss, that are not experienced with the built in tuner on my TV.

Audio sync is still not resolved.

BTW, I have been in contact with tech support and I was advised to do a system re-set, and power cycle, channel re-scan etc.

I did so and the issues persist.

I have made a video earlier in the week (only on cellphone, sorry about the quality) that shows some of the dropout issues, you can view it here (password is T2200).

If anyone has also seen this or can shed any light on this please chime in.

Hi

Please try using a band pass filter which can be purchased from our website, it looks like the unit is getting allot of interference. If it does not help the issue we will credit the filter no problem.

Thanks for your reply Josh, but perhaps my point as demonstrated in the video wasn't clear.

If the 6 year old tuner built in to the TV is rock solid ( with the identical signal input ) and certainly does not need a band pass filter, then why does the tuner in the T2200?

Some tuners are more sensitive than others.

I've found tuners in TVs themselves to be the 'strongest' ie. they get solid output from seemingly weaker signals.

I take your point – but this is technology we're discussing here, utilising a signal is what these devices are ostensibly designed to do.

Rather than "stronger" I would offer instead use the terms efficiency and performance.

I can't think of any reason why a set-top box product that exists for viewing television in 2016 should be released to market with tuner technology less efficient than that from a television more than half a decade prior.

This sort of problem can be caused by the susceptibility of a device to local interference and can work both ways. Years ago I bought a top of the range Panasonic 50 inch Plasma, but it would not tune any stations at all (analog of course at the time). My HTPC with 3 tuners cards sitting right beside it using the same aerial connection tuned no problem.

We tried another TV with the same result, no channels found. Go figure

Edit:

Oh and I should add signal strength was no issue, I live on a ridge with line of site to the Waiatarua mast, my signal is too strong if anything

I have been using some bunny ears - temporary solution moved house, and purchased a t2200 off another geekzone member and I have found that it actually holds the marginal signal better that our panasonic 55inch vt series plasma tv so I think it varies and there is probably no guarantee unless you have good signal.

I asked for help but totally ignored the solution, that didn't work for some reason.

After thinking about this I realise I was quick to blame the wrong piece of equipment.  Between the t2200 and the tv is a sony blu-ray sound system.  The symptoms repeated again last night which gave me a chance to check that turning off the tv fixed the problem and then it hit me that the T2200 was practically isolated from the tv so could not have anything to do with it.  Sorry for wasting time.

With regards to current firmware, yes am up to date and am quite happy with how the box performs  (at the moment :-)  )

Thanks for the update, i'll note this down if someone has similar issues and I will ask if they have a sound system connected. :)
