thanks Josh, I have logged it via the contact form on your website as well
Seakiwi:
Jase2985:
what are you doing when you get this message?
Nothing!
There is nothing being recorded, it is simply watching live TV.
I left the box running and turned the TV off so it wasn't annoying me, turned the TV ona couple of hours later (it was in standby of course) and the message was front and centre.
It was not doing this until about 4 weeks back. I have now removed the box from my mothers place and set it up on spare TV at my place.
thats odd ive never had it and we have it on TV most of the time for 3-4h per day.
maybe its set to look for updates when you have it on and it cant connect to the update server?
Seakiwi:
No, auto updates is turned off.
ok i have mine turned on for 3am
it will still look for updates with auto update turned off, i just dont know when, i think when it turns on
Although I can't find this error in the documentation, I am pretty sure it is referring to the "server" that is supposed to handle recordings as the message states "You can still watch live TV"

Yes, you're right. I couldn't get to the library, I just kept getting the message popping up and a soft reboot didn't help at all for me. So it's like the OS crashed in a way, or it couldn't talk to the HDD.
Some more strange behaviour. I had to move the box onto a TV in another room, so it was powered down and then turned on when plugged back in. The upgrade to v1.34 obviously set the default of allow software updates as it immediately advised it was doing an update.
The strange thing is it "upgraded" from the 1.34 version I loaded via USB back to 1.33 without any warning that it was about to backgrade the software!
Not clever at all!
i guess they expect you to usb upgrade OR over air not both , maybe 1.34 wasnt for the masses and is a beta of sorts ?

Apart from the fact that is the ONLY version available for download from their support page
im guessing the reason is that 1.33 is the verison thats being distributed to the box OTA and via network, so when you have done a hard reset (ull the power cable) its checked for an update and its found the latest one, its hasnt cared weather the one you have is newer, and its just installed that.
@joshhill96 any reason why version 1.34 is on the website but not being pushed to the boxes via OTA or Network?
Once again no action on a support issue from DishTV, no contact from the details left on their website and not even an answer as to why they have a later software version on their website than is being pushed to their installed boxes.
No surprise, probably working on releasing a new bug ridden box for users to test!
V1.35 of the firmware was released 6 November and appears to have been pushed to my box even though auto updates was turned off!
Don't know if it fixes anything yet, as we haven't been using the box it was just sitting in another room turned on without even an aerial connection. The bizarre thing is I am now getting a perfect picture on all channels with no aerial plugged in at all! I do live on a ridge in Westharbour with direct line to Waiatarua though.

auto update option does nothing, it will still get an update, which IMO sucks as if they release a dud update which they have done in the past you are stuck with it till they release a new one or roll back
The Auto Update feature applies to the unit waking up at a scheduled time and checking for updates, if an update is found then it will install it for you and will go back to sleep after it's been set. There is no option to turn updates off unless you disconnect it from the internet.
