I just wondered if anyone has used the remote support software ScreenConnect? If so, is it any good? It's considerably cheaper than the alternatives (Teamviewer, Log Me In, GoToAssist etc), and I wonder if this is due to lesser quality?

Any opinions/experiences would be great. :)

I use it extensively throughout my business and I can assure you it is very good. You will not regret going with it.

Thanks for that endorsement. I take it you don't work for them?  ;-P

We use it extensively in our business and it's amazing. Honestly and without reservation the best money I have spent for the longest time. They were just bought by Labtech Software (RMM Package) and it integrates nicely. I wouldn't have the slightest hesitation in the product. I am unsure how development and support will be affected by the acquisition as we deal with LT as well and theirs is not as quick or good as SC was.

It's almost entirely customizable and also there is a "toolbox" which when you play with that, will make your eyes pop out of your head.

Haha no I do not. I use it for remote access to my clients (businesses) in my IT company.

As others have said, absolutely no regrets here I just hope this acquisition doesn't change things too much.

Has anyone integrated ScreenConnect with Naverisk?

I'm just wondering whether SC is installed from the Naverisk console or whether it has to be separately installed on the client computer manually first.  I'm hearing good things about SC but am wary of having ANOTHER bit of software auto-start on client computers.

As I understand it, SC is a web app. so no software install needed?

I've never done it, however they list it as their preferred option, a quick call to support would have you sorted I imagine.

SC Client is incredibly lightweight, very very occasionally on machines that are otherwise flaky the process uses more cpu or something, but in 500 pc's maybe 1 or 2 a month.

We also use it as our remote support software, for ad-hoc support and unattended servers etc.
Works great and they are very good with support when it is needed.

I have fully customised the client side so they see our logo and name etc in the software rather than the default ScreenConnect stuff.

That reminds me I need to upgrade to V5 as it has some nice new features. :)

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.

We use it for probably 10 support sessions a day.

Much better than teamviewer.
With teamviewer, we used to run into problems where a client would be running some practice management software or business application.
SAM comes to mind - its a popular program that vehicle mechanics use for running their business. There was a few weeks where we were running a new version while they hadnt purchased the new version, or installed the new listener on their clients machines.

And you cannot have different versions running at once.

It became a nightmare asking customers to find the SAM teamviewer in the task tray, close it and then open ours.

So we switched to screen connect and never looked back.
Its so much better than teamviewer - though teamviewer does have three features SC is missing.
1) Better file transfer. There is a better file transfer function in teamviewer.
2) Teamviewer has a temporary screen resolution function and puts the screen resolution back when the session ends.
3) Teamviewer doesnt require you to self host, but thats not an issue for us.

So we got the domain screenconnect.co.nz because its easy to pronounce over the phone and set up a little support site.
teamviewer sounds like teenviewer, teanspewer, teammower, what? Oh you made a spelling mistake.

Everyone can spell www . screen connect, one word, no spaces, .co.nz

SC allows you to build a client installer. We simply made a one click installer that loads itself onto anything.
You can make an installer that puts the machine into a certain group, and automatically names itself.
Or you can make an installer on the fly.

We also use the temporary session function - though this has become a little more difficult to use especially in chrome and firefox when customers dont know how to use the download manager.
Internet explorer is so much simpler because it asks if you want to just run the download.

Also screenconnect now shows a picture of what to click on - customers click on the picture and not what its showing them down the bottom of the screen.

When it gets real bad with some people, we just email them a zip with an installer we build on the fly.

So SC has a few fixes it needs to make with chrome or firefox. Most people are fine connecting to a session, but if your dealing with some super-meatware then getting them to find the internet explorer icon is the best advice I can give.

So anyhow as a rural ISP, using screenconnect saves thousands of kilometres of driving each year.
And our sister company finds supporting business and general residential clients super easy now.

Team viewer was good, but the version incompatibilities were creating too many headaches now that every business management software writer uses it - and I know some are still using version 5 because they dont want to pay the $800 each year to upgrade it.

Ive had a client end up on a dodgy web-site by their miss-spelling Teamviewer
