Farking Samsung and their lies about the gap issue with the HTC One. Apparently all the posts online about how you can put a piece of paper through the gap in the phone is totally BS! I will never, ever own a Samsung again!

Vodafone - nope. But from my sources it may be around the $1149 mark as it's 4G.

Telecom - while it's 4G, as they don't have a network to support it, their pricing is $999.

Availability for Telecom is around early May. It's going to be a long long month.

I'm not to keen on the "inflation" were seeing on cellphone prices these days. $1149 for both the S4 and the One? I shudder to think of the price of a brand new phone in a few years time and its not like we have decently priced contracts like the states do to warrant it.

I'm on an $80 plan, been on it for 5 years, reason I haven't changed is I get 3GB of data. Apparently the plan has been grand fathered. So will be demanding something special from Vodafone.

How about you just ask politely and respectfully, isn't that how you would want to be treated?

Compared to what plans cost 5-10 years ago (I used to pay over $800 a month to VF at one point), things have improved significantly.

Do I think it a little strange the new phones are $100 more? Yes. Perhaps the carriers found margins a little tight once all the competition started during the S3 release?

has anyone ordered the HTC One developer Edition from USA? I am one of the guys who got the One from Noel Leeming for 800 bucks but am thinking if to return that and get the One from USA

I was thinking of ordering one via YouPost, because it is a pretty amazing deal. But after looking into the frequencies it appeared to be a no-go on NZ 4G (and i wasn't 100% sure on high speed 3G). Might hurt re-sale value later, even if you don't use 4G now.

Given that the Noel Leeming special made the local version the same price as the developer edition (after currency conversion and gst), and has local support, it seemed to come out on top as the better deal.

If you discover better news regarding the radio frequencies though, let me know :)

All companies do it, I recall HTC doing the same a few years back. I can't recall which phone but it was pretty blatant, and I recall them making some form of retraction. Based on that, you would never buy any HTC again. If you want a vendor who has never told any lies or mistruths about it's competitors you might struggle for gadgets.

OK.
Took some sample pics with both HTC One and with Nexus 4
All pics are using HDR, no flash and Zoe is turned off.
To me there is much less noise in the HTC shots. Granted Nexus does more pixels but they aren't as good.
My opinion only.

thanks a lot for that. seems like the low light performance of the One is definitely much better. and the wider field of vision will help things out a lot. but the outdoor shots, i dont know. i think i preferred the images from the Nexus 4 for those ones.. especially the road shots..

Just a way to important an item that would otherwise be US only.

Edit: The HTC One Developer Edition will be available in limited quantities to customers with a US Zip Code for $649 when the HTC One is released in the United States.

Thanks for posting the samples. I gotta say, quite disappointed with the performance of the HTC One in decent sunlight. Very jagged edges. WTF? If you look at the coastline one, there's some kind of ghosting?

Thanks. Going on those I really prefer the photos of the HTC One overall BUT I do like the Nexus 4 road shots with the trees better than the HTC.
