Not Samsung but pixels in some countries let you (well the news story from August said it was in beta and rolling out) NZ was on of the countries on the list that let you do it

New update came through tonight, importantly for Vodafone users this update enables WiFi calling (off by default). Need to go into the connections area and enable it.

Does the s21 ultra 5g have a screen protector film on it by default?

I've damaged my screen somehow. Looks like a small hole then an area of lifted film around it. Ie 1mm or so. When I look up round the front camera and the edge of the screen it looks like there is a protective film already attached.

Can I left this and replace with a protective film ??

@Kopkiwi before saying our NZ carriers are rubbish you should actually do some research on how these updates are pushed out and it has very little to do with NZ mobile carriers!

@Kopkiwi before saying our NZ carriers are rubbish you should actually do some research on how these updates are pushed out and it has very little to do with NZ mobile carriers!


It has everything to do with the carriers.

They represent a massive fatberg in an otherwise flowing system.

I despise the fact that they even get an opportunity have a say.

@sdavisnz That is not correct the carriers only do 1 thing and that is test the update

The carriers do not push out the update!

The carriers 99% of the time approve the update in 24 hours of receiving it

You make some correct points and some wrong assumptions.

Apple pushes out constant fixes for iOS to fix bugs and instabilities.
There's plenty of evidence (I've experienced personally) with iOS issues that effected my connectivity with my carrier.

These days it's regularly the case Samsung pushes out security updates before even Google does. It appears this time as well Samsung has pushed out Android 12 very very quickly compared to other OEM's. Samsung don't do it perfectly but they are literally a million times better than they ever have been in the past.

It's 2 different approaches to achieve the same thing.
This isn't a discussion about android VS iOS.

Apple also pushes out carrier specific updates inconsistently. The implication being they don't much care if you install an iOS update and have a buggy carrier experience, they just get to fixing it when they can be bothered and then you get a carrier bundle on your phone eventually.
