Dingbatt: I have finally been afflicted by the camera 'purple haze'. I thought I had got away with it but when I went to use the camera in very low light conditions there was only purple fog visible. The only change, the update to 4.4.2. Prior to that the camera was as perfect as a 4Mb ultra pixel can be.

I've just noticed it on my phone... also thought I was lucky.
The internet tells me that some people think upgrades improve it, some think it makes it magically worse... This suggests to me it probably happens progressively over a number of weeks or months and the timing is coincidental - upgrades just happen to be a time where we spend a lot of time looking at the phone's features.
I'm going to go have a word with Noel Leeming and see what they have to say about it. They gave me a great deal when I bought it (Matched the parallel importers). Really hoped I had gotten away with not having to deal with this.

But it's not as if I have just bought it though, it's a year old. And I was able to compare from just before the update to just after. Something definitely changed.
I might log a fault with HTC and see what comes of it.

Yeah I'm the same - wasn't 'til the Kitkat update that it showed on my phone. I'm personally not too bothered by it, as I don't take many photos in the dark/low light so its not been a big deal, but it DEFINITELY seems to be at least partly to do with software/firmware rather than just "bad" hardware.

Dingbatt: Kind of destroys my faith in HTC build quality, and the trouble is i have just dropped outside the 1 year warranty so will have to argue CGA if i want to get it fixed.
Thank you for the explanation though.

Are you sure the warranty is one year? When I read the warranty document that came with my HTC One, it said 24 months.
I have the purple tint issue as well and need to contact HTC about it. I'm just over 11 months from purchase date. Does anyone know if they can provide a courtesy spare phone while it's being fixed?
