But, although my IMEI number checks out as "Not in the list of affected devices" on the Samsung website, and the box having the black square on it, my battery icons aren't green. I travel a fair bit, so will be intersting to see if my new invoice convinces the airlines I'm not about to spontaneously combust ...

this requires a software update which will get to you... eventually.

I also noticed that my battery icons are not green - so I looked for an OS update but nothing there. If it's coming by way of an update shortly then I'll just relax and wait for it.

got a SMS from Spark about an hour ago saying replacements are ready.

i dropped mine at albany in auckland a couple of weeks ago. am down in chch on work for a couple of weeks. tried to get my replacement in chch but they said limited stock so they couldnt. (it does mention that in the terms but mrep)

they better have one waiting for me in albany when i get back.

i wonder what would have happened if i handed them an old note7 over the counter today and wanted a replacement. they wouild have to dig into their allocation anyway. dont know what difference it makes.

Update: Hiroshi Lockheimer—Google's SVP of Android, Chrome OS, and Google Play—responded to this article on Twitter. Google is apparently granting Samsung an exception, and a white border will be kept around the battery icon to help with legibility

some people are losing their minds over the green icon eh, like its the end of the world. i would never have noticed it otherwise, couldn't care less.

I just went to the Vodafone store where I handed my note in and got told I couldn't have one and that i have to wait for the online Store to courier me one. Not happy.

Yes - that's in the story I linked.

The green icon is important because only 'fresh' Note7's will get that update. If you don't have the green-icon update and want to sell the N7 later on, no-one will want to buy it because they will suspect it's one of the old ones.

Excellent service from Spark! I think I was there for 25 minutes or so as we transferred everything (including settings) over. Painless process, so kudos to Spark and Samsung.

I now have the best phone on the market happily recharging via wireless at full grunt whilst I listen to some music at work. Happy camper here!

IMO Vodafone have been totally hopeless throughout this exercise - very frustrating to deal with, poor communication etc. but in the end they will have just muddled-through and it will all be forgotten. They have alienated me as a customer though.

Anyone had experience returning their phone to Spark without all the accessories? I just saw their post on Facebook, and they were telling people that if you don't have everything, they may just give you the handset itself. Is this right? I thought all Samsung wanted was the handset itself and that we are not to accept anything other than a new sealed box? I'm just missing the earphones (gave away, they never feel comfortable) and I've lost the s-pen - other than that, it's in perfect condition with a screen cover that will be lost in the handover.

Can they really insist on giving you the handset only? I can't find any solid reference that I can argue applies to us here in New Zealand, never been through this before to be honest. I wanted to return it earlier, but the last person I spoke to in store was rather rude and dismissive, so I opted to retain the device (turned off, sealed in the sink) until I could be sure about how this should be handled. Should I just accept what they are saying, are they correct?

I'd really prefer a sealed box and the replacement accessories of course! I didn't get the free J5 and with all the inconvenience and loss of my screen protector etc, I don't think that's too unreasonable? Is there anything solid that I can argue with on this?

When I handed back my phone it was phone in box with charger, cable & headphones

And I am expecting it back in the same condition - phone sealed in a box with charger, cable & headphones (micro usb adapters would be a plus)

Anything less and I will walk into 2 Degrees and hand it back

Hey, thank you. Was this with Spark? Did you have the s-pen to hand over as well, or they didn't even check for that? It may depend on the person you are dealing with. Would just like some way to argue the point if I'm not that lucky. It's by no means always the case, but as a girl you are at times treated like a child with staff at these places.

If anything, you should be able to get your screen protector back provided that it's the Samsung official one.

I bought the Samsung official screen protector - which was applied to my phone when i returned it and Spark replaced that for me as well.

I think your best bet may be to ask Spark on Facebook since they seem to have up to date knowledge of everything.

Thank you. It's the official one and bought from Spark too. On facebook they were telling someone to speak with staff at their store, and they may receive only the handset.

Good service from Spark, been emailed, been text and been called by Spark store. We have a new note 7 for you. Gonna pick up Saturday.
