Everyone does that mate. All import shops. And they should. Instead of taking out the warp charger like Noel Leeming.

[Mod edit (MF): removed unnecessary bad word).

They shouldnt

its illegal to supply it with out a legit NZ charger, and only supply a travel adapter.

noels may take out the warp charger but its not a requirement. other leave it in and supply a NZ charger

Yea no I don't care tbh, I just want my warp charger😂

NikT:

They're coming!

ETA and pricing TBC, but I can confirm you'll be able to buy the OnePlus 8 series officially in NZ with local warranty in the near future.

Just been to Oneplus website and noticed their Australian site is partially live - https://www.oneplus.com/au albeit with prices listed in HK dollars.

I wonder if this has anything to do with what NikT is saying on purchasing officially from Oneplus with local warranty?

Site has been around for a while. They did a limited release on it for AU and a pop up store for the OnePlus 6 I think (it was years ago).
Never did anything in AU or NZ after that however.

Also a lot of the info on the AU site is old.

Well might pay to hold off on this for now. There are hardware issues with the screen and people are being told that they have 3 options
Fix via service center, refund or asking for a replacement.

Yes but it's interesting that they have a new landing page referencing the OP8. I looked at that site a couple of weeks ago and the landing page was still the old OP5.

Generally OP seem to have a lot of trouble gaining traction outside of China and India, and I notice they are retrenching in some European countries. Guess most people seem to be more interested in image over value for money. That's the power of marketing I guess.

Nokia 6110, 6210, 6234, Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1, Huawei Ideos X5 (Windows Mobile), Samsung Galaxy SIII, LG G4, OnePlus 5, iPhone Xs Max (briefly), S21 Ultra. And I thought I hadn't had many phones - but the first one around 1997.

Very excited for this to come to NZ - even better if OP starts native support here as their sister brand Oppo already does. Would get the 8 Pro over the X2 Pro any day.

NL now stocking OP8 also (scroll down the page):

https://www.noelleeming.co.nz/shop/phones-and-gps/mobile-phones/android/new/c12704-cmobilephones-csmartphone-atnew_01-p1.html

I wonder if they'll have the 8Pro at some stage also...

Does this mean we are not too far off seeing them available from PB?

So i received mine a couple days ago from Supero. and my GOD what a device this is. Coming from the latest flagships to this (Note10+,S20Ultra and every other toy out there), this thing is a piece of art. the color, the screeen, smoooooooooooothness, its just next level. Camera is definitely better than note 10+ and on par if not better than my s20 ultra. enjoying it very much.

Apparently the phone has received 4 camera software updates in the last two weeks alone, hopefully a good sign of them taking camera software very seriously.

Nice! Drooling......good to know not much of a delay in shipping for ordering from Supero if I decided to go with a SD version of the S20U.

The listing interests me - I wonder if it'll be an import version as there's nothing that says it'll be shipping with a NZ plug. Maybe more details are to come, we'll see.

They are all import versions, there is no NZ version of the plug/phone.

Retailers have to sell it with a NZ wall adapter, not just a travel adapter.

Some will give you both which still complies with NZ regulations. but they cant just sell it with the travel adapter

@mahdibassam what adapters did you get with the phone?

Yeah you're probably right, just a lot of wishful thinking on my part really, but as reference their OnePlus 6 listing says it explicitly while the 8 doesn't.
