This is definitely something I'd want to have!

There is a setting for that in Menu -> Settings -> Location below the GPS on/off setting: "Phone finder"

You have to enable your HTC Sense account (add it via Manage Accounts) as well.
Then you can log in via www.htcsense.com and "find your phone".

Havent tried this yet, but can you give it a go! thanks.

Congrats R2 and Linuxluvr on your beautiful tech additions! Great to have real kiwi hands on experiences of the new handsets. Will be paying close attention to the feedback and your user experiences.

I didnt think I would ever sway from HTC.. My previous HTC handsets were the Apache, Titan and then the Touch Pro2.. Dabbled with early Android builds (0.9) on the Titan.. seems so long ago!

The great feedback of the performance of the Galaxy S meant i was compelled to move away from HTC. The Galaxy S is an awesome phone, however really facing the dilemma of the Galaxy S II vs The Sensation.. Media performance of the Galaxy S and it's beaut Super Amoled screen and carried through to the S II is still pulling me away from HTC but know the reviews in this thread will ensure i make an absolutely informed decision!

R2, Linuxluvr and lokhor.. Bring it on! :-)

I hope mine comes tomorrow. Btw Seek Droid is great for finding lost phones.

I just did some testing on the startup times of the HTC Sensation. It did seem to be a fast phone, so I wanted to see *how* fast.

I discovered the HTC Sensation is easily the fastest booting Android phone I've ever had my hands on.

See for yourself.

(I might post this in a thread of its own so we can get some broad comparisons with other phones.)

UPDATE: As suggested by NzBeagle, here is a video of the phone booting from a cold start after the battery was pulled and re-inserted. Quite a difference!

From what i've read its to do with something htc does, in that its not a true shutdown. More like a suspend. Try booting after a battery pull.

Great to see the Sensation in NZ so quickly. I had a good look at these in Hong Kong a couple of weeks ago but decided to not buy one for a couple of reasons. The main one wa that I bought a HTC Flyer tablet and decided that my Desire (with gingervillain mod) was quite capable of performing the phone functions I use whereas the Flyer can do the fancy stuff (video, pen etc).

I liked the weight of the phone compared to the SGS2 which I though felt a bit plasticky(?), but I found the display on the SGS2 more appealing.

The Flyer is running Sense 2.1 but that is a huge improvement over the sense on the Desire, and the Sensation runs Sense 3.0 so that should be even better.

I'll be keeping an eye on this though!

Did a boot from a totally flat battery on the wall charger and it was 14 seconds. Which I'm guessing, is the equivalent of a pulled battery. So not terrible I'd say. Will do some testing against the SGS to see what shakes.

Galaxy S has gone to its new owner. HTC Sensation has gone to its new
owner. Galaxy S3 has gone to its new owner. Now using Galaxy Note 3. Skipping Note 4 I think...

Will the Sensations that are offered by TNZ have locked bootloaders?

I have used a Nexus One (running CM7) for over 12 months, and have been very happy with it. I also dabbled with a Nexus S but got rid of it within a few days as I hated the feel of the cheap plastic case.

I was tempted to get a Desire HD but they had bad reports about the battery life, so will be interested to see if the Sensation is any better.

I think the bootloader things is an HTC issue. And they have announced they will unlock them. I gather via an OTA update at some point.

+1 - They may be locked now, but they are going to unlock them. It may well be a way to lighten their warranty load. As with Nexus One...if you want to unlock...go right ahead...but no warranty.

I know that HTC have announced they will remove the lock on the bootloader, but as they have been shipped since then was interested to know if they are still locked.
From what I read elsewhere (XDA) nobody has yet found a safe way to unlock these devices yet?

Another question I have about these Telecom devices... do they install any "bloatware" or are they pure HTC??

Im looking forward to the reports on battery performance :)
