Think the first of the March security update updates came through late last week (for a different CSC).

I just changed from XEU to XSA to be 'closer to home' and because I was having some random drain issues. Clean installs FTW, things seem much better. Need to remember to do this more often - and with samsung smart switch + viber/whatsapp cloud backups, it's so much easier to do!

I clean installed XSA after being on BTU and finding the battery drain to be quite substantial. I've usually found XSA to be better due to what I assumed was the modem firmware.

On the whole, I think my S7 battery life has improved post Nougat

Found the setting to restrict background data use and disallowed it. That seems to have slowed it down 2 or 3 orders of magnitude but still trickling background data from time to time.

So why is it still using 3G to do so? Or was that something else?

Yeah, this will be a killer feature in Android O (restricting background CPU/data usage). Which I'm guessing the S7 will eventually get.

That's a good question actually, sounds like you need to reset the apps and see if that changes anything. I reset mine every few months (clearing caches or reinstall them entirely) because they are such buggy apps.

Messenger Lite definitely makes a massive difference.

Also using the browser version and allowing for notifications is a nicer option than the main app as well. The Facebook Lite is just an app wrapper for an awful mobile version.

Check out the superman or superstock ROM on XDA. Magisk is the best Root method for Nougat, you simply select what you want in the Aroma installer. Then use the CSC selection tool to choose whatever locale you desire. I'm pretty impressed with the stability of the whole scheme.

How do you properly backup viber? Need this.

There is an option in the Viber settings for this.
