My gps never really worked that accurately but now it refuses to work.

My wife started geocaching and man her iphone 5s is spot on with gps.

Any way of trying to fix mine? (Eg stupid software bug)

Are there any Android that works like an iPhone? Recommend me one

I have a feeling it's due to the rom. Originally a telstra au first release phone now on spark 4.4.2 rom.

Mine seems to work fine. I had it on stock ROM, but it's on WanamLite now and that works fine too. I assume you've gone into location preferences and set it to "high accuracy" mode?

it doesn't work. GPS not going. i tested it by going to flight mode using GPS only - one hour later still searching!

using high accuracy i got to within 1-3 miles away.

Or you could send it for repair. Everything physical can break, and this is the first time I've heard of the GPS breaking on an S4. Could just be an antenna disconnected.

The gps was completely out of whack on my samsung note 2 on all google apps. The only solution was a complete factory reset. Works spot on now.

I discovered it works on third party GPS apps ... I'm not going to investigate any further. Maybe when (IF) android L comes I will flash another ROM and see ... I've wasted enough energy on android

Are you rooted?

You could try a few things like changing NTP servers to the NZ/Pacific ones.

Also I've always used GPS Status since Galaxy #1 (i9000!) days - this had notoriously bad GPS.  GPS status can be set to auto download aGPS data (every x hours, days, etc) when GPS is active which sure helps with getting a fix.

I'm running CM11 (older M9 build) and everything (GPS) is working sweet.  I can recall from some of the early 4.4.2 ROMs that GLONASS stopped working but I *think* this was fixed with some of the updates (haven't been on a TW ROM for ageeeees!).

My nightmare is over for now.

When I realised all third party apps were locking spot on with gps

I looked at why Google maps would not use gps.
To be more accurate it would use gps as the Icon will flash, then gps will lock (solid icon) but nothing happens on maps. Still waiting.

Installed all updates. Nothing.

So I uninstalled maps and reinstalled maps. Works like a treat.

My love hate relationship continues.

I hate Android!

Updated the app in Google store and immediately it broke. "Unable to determine location settings" popped up when opening maps.

Uninstalled. Back to 6.8.1
