I have a fresh Note 7 and am trying to set up my email using the standard Samsung Email app. I have an x@xtra.co.nz email address.

I have incoming email working fine but the Sent box is showing no historical sent emails. If I send myself a test email, it does show up but no older sent emails are showing.

I think there is a server and/or sync problem but I'm at the limit of my tech knowledge. I have been on the phone to Vodafone for advice etc but they have effectively given up on the issue. I have also googled long and hard but have not found anything helpful.

I'm sure the settings etc would be the same as for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.

Would really appreciate advice. Thanks.

POP3 or IMAP? If POP, you won't see historic sent items.

Aha - yes, it is on POP3. So it's not really a 'fault' that I can't see the old Sent items - but seems to be a shortcoming nonetheless.

I can see them on the Yahoo Android app (which I dislike) but not on the recently commissioned Samsung Email app (which I prefer). Drat - but not the end of the world I guess.

Thanks @Stu. Vodafone didn't tell me it was 'normal' situation - just said they couldn't resolve it - if they had told me that I would have just let it lie.

There used to be a way to set xtra accounts up for IMAP, but can't recall if they had separate configs or if you just set it up the same but set IMAP as the protocol and just entered the correct port. Not sure if you still can. Worth a look though if you want full access to emails on the server.

The ability to save previously sent messages into a 'Sent Folder' is an email client thing, IMAP folders needs to be supported.

Only on Gmail is it done on the server side.

You can find IMAP settings for Yahoo Xtra email here

Also if you have used pop3 then there is a good chance that the emails are now gone from the server so do not delete the account on the phone if you have emails in there that you value, set up imap as a new account and just break the pop one by changing the username to something else so it stops downloading till you have worked thru the inbox of things you need to do. Otherwise you will become one of those people that blames the ISP for losing emails.

Thanks but no, as I said, I can see them all in the Yahoo app that I am now using.
