Hey I am looking for a cheapish rugged (impact and water resistant) phone with good GPS.

It's just going to be used while on my MTB so doesn't need to be the fastest thing out but a nice big battery would be nice.

I had a bit of a look and saw this. http://www.phoneandtablet.co.nz/store/p504/Blackview_BV5000_Smartphone_-_5_Inch_HD_Screen%2C_IP67%2C_MTK6735P_Quad_Core_CPU%2C_4G%2C_5000mAh_Battery%2C_Android_5.1.html.

Anyone have any experience with these sort of phones.

The other option is the Samsung XCover 3 for about $300.  We have some at work and they're quite nice phones except a slightly low res screen (480 x 800)- but probably perfectly OK for mapping etc.  The one you linked to has better specs.

I had to laugh at the "premium 6 months warranty" splash on the website - is that a pre-emptive attempt to get out of CGA obligations?

If you only want it for Strava and maps get the Wahoo Elemnt instead: 8-12hr battery, very rugged, completely waterproof, display visible in very bright sunlight, etc. etc. Can be bought for about $NZ350 delivered on eBay.

FWIW, the Xcover 3 has a pretty shocking antenna compared to the Xcover 2. My work upgraded about 6 people to the 3 and now they have constant reception issues where there were previously none.

Samsung Galaxy S5. You can even get one on Trademe cheap (but I don't recommend it)
