My OnePlus 5 is coming up on its 2-year anniversary so I'm planning to buy a new phone before the end of March. This has been my second OnePlus phone (I had a One prior to this) and I've been very happy with it. So naturally I'm considering the OnePlus 6T, but I wonder what else I should be looking at.

Budget is sub-$1000 and main factors I usually consider are: reliability, battery life, camera and ongoing support (in terms of Android updates).

Any other phones I should be checking out?

Thanks,

Martin

I've been using an LG G7 ThinQ for a few months and find it very good.

It's especially good if you listen to music through wired headphones as it contains a very good DAC and headphone amplifier.

On top of that it's been reliable and straightforward, perfectly fine in terms of speed, is dual SIM capable, has wireless charging and Fast Charge etc etc.

And PB Tech have it at just under $900 right now, but it's been $100 cheaper in their sales.

The two I would recommend in terms of Android updates are the Nokia 7.1 (an Android One device) or the OnePlus.

There's the OnePlus 6T McLaren edition, but there appears to be not a lot of functional difference for more money. Rumours of the OnePlus 7 are around May, so that's probably too late for me (outside the financial year).

I think the McLaren version has more RAM and a few screen savers, plus some fake carbon trim. At least that is all I could spot. Others may have keener eyes.

I probably could, but my OCD would drive me insane about not replacing it in the right month! It would no doubt crap out halfway through the year. Plus I want to get the purchase into this tax year.

6T would have been ideal but just this weekend there has been news about users plagued with battery drain issue.
