This could potentially be a good/useful service, as long as they don't do technical/customer support via their God-awful overseas call centre.

I listen to a lot of UK radio and have recently heard ads from BT selling exactly the same thing and pretty much the same T&Cs. Not particularly relevant and only slightly interesting.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Can someone explain how this WIFI system connect to existing infrastructure in the home Vodafone supplied router.

I'm having a new house built this year. Does it connect to the ONT? doesnt Chorous install a newer ONT these days that supports "hyperfibre" that has its own powerfull WIFI 6 onboard?

It will connect to whatever router you're using via wifi or ethernet. Everyone where will absolutely recommend that you run ethernet from your router TO these deco mesh units for the best performance.

Unfortunately this already happens with the gen 3 onts. Something about having a pointy thing seems to tell people it's the wifis.

I was thinking of getting a Unifi6-lite but no one seems to have stock.

Would these be a solid alternative?

Inexplicably I am still a VF customer.

Incredibly bold claim - What about apartment blocks where interference is going to be a problem?

The units do support AX and as long as the devices supports AX then it should not matter

In terms of the modem vs ont, its kinda a product choice and market game.

Chorus have their rgw ont product. Rsps can purchase it and use it to avoid the customer confusion. At the downside of 2x2 ac wireless. (to be fair it feared well in my trials vs some of the 3x3 modems out there)

The ont itself was a pretty good choice for chorus, excluding the product to sell etc, they swapped to a device that was mass produced thus cheaper and more supported (as a product of the pure volume worldwide.)

This is all derailing from the topic though. Vf seem to have swung a pretty good deal on this device. Getting ax to the market is a bit of a numbers game. I have not noticed it being overly marketed as fastest wifi though. Its about having solid coverage. Which this product would supply (as would their ultra hub + mesh setup they had though?)

I've taken up the offer despite a small risk that I'll want to change from HFC to fibre - I understand that a change of broadband type within 24 months will stop the monthly discount so I'd have to pay for it from then on at $18pm (=$449/24).

I was logged into my account already so it was very easy. They could have prefilled the form as they have all my details already which would have made it a 2-3 click exercise.

gehenna: Wow, a lot of negativity here. How about "good on you for giving it a go Vodafone. It's a problem a lot of people have so it's nice to see one of the big players attempting to solve it".

Scepticism through experience.

Not so much about VF's ability to have a couple of devices delivered to someone's house, but more about their ability to support people for who it doesn't work as promised.

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.
