Vodafone UK announced new GPRS plans, including a flat-rate. There's a fair usage clause, which limits the "unlimited" to 150Mbytes/month, though (but I want this in New Zealand too .

Cingular Wireless today announced the world's first commercial deployment of wireless services using Enhanced Datarate for Global Evolution (EDGE) technology. Cingular's initial EDGE service offering is in its Indianapolis market, with subsequent deployments expected later in the year.

Police in London, UK mounted a series of raids on retailers suspected of involvement in mobile phone insurance fraud. Rogue sales staff have apparently advising customers who have lost their mobile phones to report them as stolen, so that they can claim on the insurance and get a new handset.
