Hunting for a new battery for my 91 Merc 300E24. Any recommendations?

I've found a cheap one at $200 from Best Batteries made by Neuton Power. It has 700 cold cranking amps, which is much higher than others at that price. http://bestbatteries.co.nz/din66l-mf-700cca-european-car-battery-neuton-power.html But i've not heard of Neuton Power before...

Higher cranking batteries than others the same size can be a few factors, thinner plates so more of them but more prone to breaking down by vibration and over charging. The other method is to use a higher specific gravity acid but the down size of that is it shortens the life of the battery.

That is a cheap battery but calcium technology so whilst it will run ok if the voltage drops below a certain point your alternator may not be able to charge it up as calcium requires 14.8 volts from alternator and most pre 2000 ones only do 14.3. Having said that most automotive batteries are calcium grids.

Mail me your location and I'll have a look tomorrow as to what we have.
