Hi all my first post so please forgive my lengthy topic.

I have the following setup.
#PC with Hauppauge   Win TV HVR 1200 hybrid TV card.
#video card is ATI HD4890 wth dual DVI noHDMI.
#monitor syncMaster 2233 RZ connected through DVI
#SHARP TV 32" connected to the second DVI port through "ATI DVI to HDMI special adapter that transmits audio and video together to HDMI compliant TV" the HDMI to HDMI cable is 15Meter.

I have extended desktop mode all drivers and software are up to date.

now my problem is when I have windows media centre or VLC playing HD channels they all work fine when I move them to the second monitor (SHARP TV) except TV3 C4 TV3plus and C42 (all Kordia channels) all others work finei.e channel 1 2 maori chinese prime etc freeview HD.

but then to complicate or simplify the problem I tried a generic DVI to HDMI adapter one that doesn't carry audio only video and TV3 works fine !!!!. when the ATI adapter is connected sometimes the TV3's signal disappears as well MCE says no TV signal for all kordia channels.

can someone explain whats going on. is it because audio is carried out as well as the video these channels dont work or what could be the problem.

thanks for reading my lengthy post

is the tuner losing lock or the HDMI connection failing when you try those channels?

internal or USB tuner? Is the card right beside the video card? Is the HDMI cable an ok one, is your antenna cable a good quality one or a cheap barely shielded one?

Can be, some tuners dont seem to be very well shileded, and videocards and HDMI are outputting gigbits of data, so noise well into the GHz is possible from the exposed traces.

but will that explain why the TV works when the generic DVI to HDMI adapter is used rather than the ATI adapter? thanks for the reply.

If you are pushing audio over the DVI link, then it will usually be at a higher bitrate than without since it uses the time between frames to transfer audio. The adapter may have inferior shielding to the other one you use, there may be more active on the card when transfering audio to couple more interference across to the card.

If you want to see (well hear) how bad video cards can be for noise, put an analog soundcard beside one

defiantly, its a straightforward thing to try and RF direct from card to card is the likly source of the problem.

I tried what u suggested I removed my video card and changed the PCI-E2 slot to the one that is furthest from the DVB-T tuner card but still no luck but now all channels can be viewed on main monitor but all TV3 channels cannot be viewed on the TV through the HDMI, very weird problem.
