Hi all

Have received a few texts now saying "REDBULL Your PhoneNumber won 850,000.00 in the RedBull Promotions. For claim, send email to redbull@e-mail.ua.

Clearly a fake.

I just delete the messages and move on. My questions are. a.) Is anyone else experiencing these? b.) Any ideas how my number would have been picked up? I'm guessing from a website but I'm pretty sure I only use my number on secure site (e.g. when dealing with AA, my band etc).

The number the last one was from is 62455557

Cheers

Hi
Can you PM me your number with time/date you received them please? If you've posted your number on a website or to a competition they may have passed it onto a 3rd party.

If you keep getting them we'll try to find where they're coming from and block them.

Cheers
^POB

POB, I don't think this is a case of entering the number somewhere - it's clearly a scam (like those emails "you won the Spanish lottery, contact us to get your money) and they probably just send SMS to random numbers or to a sequence of numbers.

Probably the case of working with the other provider to block these.

Agreed Mauricio, we'd need details to follow this up to see where they're coming from and block them for this customer and potentially others.

Yeh from what I can tell from a quick google search, a few people get it regardless of who they are with. Think they just find out the NZ cell phone prefixes and start mass sending in hope of someone replying.

Also looks like there is a range of +6245 numbers that they send from.
