As I was having my gas swap-a-bottle (needed for cooking in the kitchen) replaced today, I scanned into the local Mobil and this popped up:
It was a nasty surprise, but after I took a few minutes to gather my thoughts, my level of concern dropped to near zero. I was aware this place, which is a reasonable sized dairy and fruit and veggie shop, had exposure events. Logic suggests to me a staff member or two has been infected. The original dates were 22 Aug, plus 25, 26, 27 Aug IIRC, and the times were 'all day'. I was there on the 24th. Took myself off to get a test, as the queues were likely to be short and I wondered if the date range might be expanded or not 100% accurate. A clear test result came back withn 24 hours.
Days later, they have backflled the other dates of 23 and 24 Aug. I'm guessing another staff member has picked it up.
I followed instructions, fileld out the web form, and the contact tracers called me within 2 hours. Went through their questions, advised I had a clear test which on countback was a Day 5 test. They have asked me to get a Day 12 test tomorrow, and isolate until after Day 14, which means I'm free on Wednesday. I called healthline a short time later and asked them if having my first vaccine jab yesterday was likely to affect my test tomorrow. The answer was no.
Spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing in the sun. Why is my concern near zero? I've been careful, checked in everywhere, masked everywhere, sanitised carefully after each shopping event and each EFTPOS touch (when needed). Courier dropoffs have been contactless. I have had courier pickups but every one has been boxed and has sat in my boot for 24 hours before collection (viruses don't last on cardboard). Having an electric boot lift on my wagon has been handy for this to let the courier grab the package, where normally I think of it as 'just another gimmick that can go wrong'. I did not want to catch and pass it on to anyone. If I'd not already had that Day 5 test, my concern would likely have been higher.
Today was supposed to be supermarket day. Though the cupboard were not exactly bare, I did want some essentials. Absolutely lucked out half an hour ago with a Countdown delivery slot tomorrow.
