The actual reality is that symptomatic person should not have been visiting cafes. We have been told (begged) repeatedly to stay home when we are sick.

That's kinda what I was getting at. The earlier dates, because a current newly tested one. Was symptomatic PRIOR to the initial Thursday we know of. Only just been tested.

When had it been tested/ruled out at the time they felt 'under the weather' earlier in the month. The pre-dated ones would be even less a concern. If even written up at this stage at all.

neb: My neighbour was at a LoI at the right time to get infected and I had dinner with them two days later...
I'm now in MIQ as a close contact. Not saying this to fish for sympathy but to point out the benefits of getting an "unnecessary" test today, you could almost hear the relief in the Healthline person's voice when I said I'd gone and got tested at day 5.

Which location got you?

I have been very lucky to have not been at all my usual places that are on the list recently. Guess thats one good thing for an upcoming giant rates bill meaning no spare cash.

100%. You’re totally correct that if they’d gotten tested (and stayed home while symptomatic) we wouldn’t even be talking about it now. Hope said person and everyone else has got the message now.

Complacency and poor attitude IMO. It’s that she’ll be right thing that is all too common in NZ: Oh it’s just a cold, I won’t get a test, I’ll still go out for brunch, I’ll still go to work. No - please do the right thing.

Are you in MIQ or home isolation?

Home isolation, so effectively MIQ-at-home. Fortunately I have fast Internet so it's quite bearable :-).

Just got the test results back for the 5-day test, negative so far. This is good because it means my viral load while I was out before the lockdown should have been zero, so I wouldn't have infected anyone if I was carrying it. Next test at day 12...

Colonel Mustard, in the Glenfield Countdown, with the lead pipe. Was there at exactly the same time as a person of interest.

It’s a surprisingly long haul between day 5 and day 12. It’s only a week, but man does it feel longer in my experience. At least the rest of the country is (almost) doing it with you, if that’s some small consolation. All the best and good luck with the slightly annoying but quite reassuring daily calls from Healthline.

That's considerably more bearable than MIQ. Good luck, I hope you come through ok.

How does the getting tested etc work for this, do you still have to go out and line up for your tests, or does someone come to you to make sure tests are done?

Good luck on the tests and at least you are at home, much more comfortable than Jetpark i would imagine.

Extending AKL is a given, I suspect it will be more than another week. While the SI is clear, I read somewhere that they need more time to locate anyone that has travelled to the SI from any POI's. Media speculation is SI stays L4 till at least Sunday night.

I heard from a friend that the majority of the big Auckland vaccine centres are closed, yet I have seen no official announcement or news articles. Can anyone confirm either way? thanks

Media speculation is meaningless, the only information that counts is the facts that comes from the Cabinet Office and the PMs office in the Beehive.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

In that case remove 80% of the posts on this thread. Even though the is media speculation is backed up my experts who assist the Govt so it seemed to be a valid point to make

In my experience, they call/email/text message remind you to go and get the test (during the daily health calls). Testing itself is done in the usual manner. For me, I went to a nearby GP (not my GP) and got the test there. I was advised to call ahead and let them know I'm a close contact so they could make arrangements, and then wear a mask and socially distance when there - I was tested outside in the carpark.

They did say if I had absolutely no method of transport/way to get tested then they could arrange home testing.

This is where the door to door checks and tests done in Victoria hotspots would be handy.

Scope devonport/north shore by burbs.
