I hope AirNZ and other airlines give full protection to the staff flying these flights because there will always be people who are infected on these flights.

It is a totally click bait article designed to annoy keyboard warriors.  If working employees were getting a pay cut then they would have said it.  They should be giving payroll a bonus though.  They will have way more than 40hrs per week of work but probably on salary so no extra pay.

Equally there's nothing quite like useful idiots (before you cry FUG, do Google it and note its historical meaning/context) who insist on rallying to the defence of a bunch of sociopaths who seem to disregard all the messages to be kind. And if Fletchers really have no money, dare I say senior management there might want to look themselves in the mirror a bit around:

(1) Their subcontractor management practices to ask why their subbie allegedly left a live welding torch unattended, which in turn caused the recent catastrophic convention centre construction site fire. This will almost certainly cause them to have to make provisions for legal defence, if not more;

(2) Their wonderful costs management/tender bidding practices to see why they have bled themselves dry on multiple large projects; and

.... on and on one can go.

Possibly even these organs:

Although no research has confirmed that novel coronavirus damages the testes and affects male fertility, it is highly similar to the SARS virus and these infections invade the same cell receptor, namely ACE2. The SARS virus infection can cause severe immune damage to the testes, causing orchitis and dysfunction of some reproductive-related cells.

Theoretically speaking, the COVID-19 infection may cause testicular damage, affecting sperm production and androgen synthesis, the team experts said.

As I have said a few times in this topic if you don't follow the rules of; isolation, quarantine and/or PPE then:

Sorry you are wrong. If you look at the numbers, it mostly kills the elderly & those with serious pre-existing conditions. Generally people that have led good, long lives but are on their final few years regardless of COVID. It takes the odd healthy under 50 YO. But very rarely. Look at diamond princess. 712 infected accross all ages 11 deaths, all over 70. Young people may be hospitalized for a sveral days but then they are back on their feet.

I don't know. I guess I feel that if this thing can be eliminated in 4-6 weeks then kudos to our PM. If not, then I think that there is a legitimate moral dilemma. To what extent should people have their lives restricted so that elderly people who have already led good long lives, can live a bit longer. Should schools, pre schools & universities be open? What about cafes & restaurants? What about bars and nightclubs? Weekend sports? libraries & swimming pools?

I am 64 and in reasonable health. So are you saying I should accept a vastly increased likelihood of an earlier death so you can go out and have a good time?

I am aware that dogstar001 has been booted off this forum.
Elderly or retirees also provide a very large proportion of unpaid or low paid community services.
Libraries. Meals on wheels. Counselling. Home visits. Child care. School support. Visitor kiosks.etc
Kudos to them all.

Meanwile in Corona-City: people understandably get impatient with their mortgages and payment obligations. They find it difficult to say goodbye to life as we knew it before the corona crisis. Many are forced to close their stores permanently due to quarantine or lose their jobs due to the lack of a business base. This is unfortunate but inevitable and I think the sooner you accept it, the better you can reorient yourself. The government is making insane financial efforts to help, but you have to take action yourself and look for a fresh start after the crisis. That sounds easy, but for some it is very difficult.

No. Read the article:

"Fletcher Building has proposed its executives take a 15 per cent cut in pay, but other staff could see a 70 per cent slash in income in the weeks after the coronavirus lockdown"

People get a 70% pay cut. Bosses get a 15% pay cut.

This necessarily also means that the most painful pay cuts for staff are actually going to occur when they company expects them to be able to work. So yeah doubly classy.

Fletcher Building -- you dicks.

I've got no doubt that Fletchers need to do this to preserve their cash situation. I've also go no doubt that senior management should be taking the same hit as the staff working on wages, regardless if they are actively working or not.

It's basic comms and leadership.

I ordered some N95 masks just before lockdown was announced. Had them sent to the PO Box like normal.

Cue lockdown. PO Box packages no longer accessible until after lockdown so masks now locked up in local post shop....!

Don't worry. These flights are operated for the German (or other) government(s) and NOT eligible for bonus programs ;-)

To clear up the misinformation about Fletchers.  From this article https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/money/2020/04/coronavirus-fletcher-building-proposes-huge-staff-pay-cuts-union-claims-executives-will-keep-earning-megabucks.html  :

A Fletcher Building spokesman told Newshub the proposal - a "bridging pay proposal" - will only apply to people not working during the next 12 weeks.  For the first four weeks workers will receive 80 percent of their normal pay, four weeks after that 50 percent, and 30 percent for the remaining four weeks, he said.  "Employees who continue to work over the period are paid 100 percent of their usual wage. "Senior executives working over the lockdown period will take a 15 percent pay cut." The spokesman said senior executives not working during the next 12 weeks will be on the same bridging pay conditions as everyone else.

Sorry I feel for you. Perhaps I should have said correctly wearing PPE

Here's the question nobody is asking: "what about Turkmenistan?"

A somewhat dark humorous article about Turkmenistan and the Coronavirus. It's been misreported that Turkmenistan banned the word "Coronavirus." The article raises more questions than answers.

Eurasianet.org Perspectives | Turkmenistan has not banned “coronavirus”

Failure to take defense measures against the pandemic is not the product of authoritarian caprice. Just delusion and mismanagement.

A reminder that the very young are also at greater risk.  A 6 week old neonate just died in Connecticut.

No one but I've got a fair idea who's getting banned from this sub-forum...
