When you grow you population by 60% while simultaneously downsizing your generation capacity instead of upsizing it, the result shouldn't surprise anyone with 1/2 a brain. In the last political term infrastructure for our growing population was a hot topic but it seems to have gone off the boil. We can't rest on the hydrogenation laurels of our grandparents forever, at some point we're going to have to break some eggs to make an omelette ie build something without b!tching and moaning about it. Building infrastructure in N.Z. stimulates employment and the economy. Buying 60% of your oil from dictatorships does little for anyone's economy, it just seems to fund wars.
