Can someone please tell me how un-garaged cars are going to be charged in the future? All around me the streets and drives are full of cars. It is like a slalom course driving around here.

Think ‘every parking meter is a BYO-cable charger, they don’t even have to be ‘fast’ or DC, they just need an 8/10 or 15/16A plug connector.

Google “norway street charging“ for pics of what it looks like.

Which really just begs the question. Why should the council supply free parking real estate (seeing as roads are for driving on) to property owners anyway?

I suspect off street parking especially with garaging/power is going to figure strongly in residential property values over the next decade.

In the UK they are adding charging points to light poles: https://www.independent.co.uk/environment/london-street-lamps-electric-car-charging-points-ubitricity-tech-firm-hounslow-council-richmond-a7809126.html

As car batteries gain capacity it may be that some commuters only need to stop once or twice a week at a fast charger.

Possibly adding induction pads under some parking spaces could allow wireless charging on the streets.

For right now I'm just glad to have a garage with a power point.

Here are the details about the Wellington City Council on street charging trial. There’s a great FAQ section that answers a few of the earlier questions.

Who says it's free?

The Council charges rates....and supplies services ratepayers want.

In Wellington there is a trial getting underway of 50 street chargers.......and there is no shortage of people wanting to take part even now.

I can see this being deemed to be a service ratepayers want in places where they can't easily charge otherwise.

Things change to meet requirements. This is already becoming one of them.

This will sell well even if it is pricey.

They're go to Samoa  I suspect but then they'd change back to driving on the right just because we did..  When Sweden changed from Left to right side driving back in 1967  for 10 years before the change all new cars sold had to be LHD.  I suspect here it could be reduced  to say 5 years .  If we did change after a week it would seem like you been doing it all your life.   Was easy when I went to work in the US in the mid 90s.

Samoa restricts the age of cars that you are allowed to import (no older than 8 years if I remember correctly). So large parts of the NZ fleet cannot be sent there.

They must have changed the policy when they went to driving on the left as up to then any old car was OK.

@1eStar I think you mean it raises the question. Begging the question is a logical fallacy in which the writer or speaker assumes the statement under examination to be true.

If your name begin's with Lord, maybe one of these is an option:

Although, for the price of the one in the video, I suspect you could have 2 Tesla Model X's

Only if you want to slum it with the entry level,

the clip says it has the same price as SDV8 autography, which retail in NZ for $220-230 K

A P100D X (If you are comparing it to a Rangie you will want all the bells and whistles) runs at around $190K,
