The Washington Post - Trump’s vitals over past 24 hours are ‘very concerning,’ chief of staff says

breaking

The president’s condition caused serious concern in the past 24 hours, and the next 48 hours will be critical to Trump’s recovery from the coronavirus, according to White House chief of staff Mark Meadows.

The president’s vitals over the last 24 hours were very concerning, and the next 48 hours will be critical in terms of his care,” Meadows said. “We’re still not on a clear path to a full recovery.”

The assessment stood in contrast with the more positive one from Trump’s White House physician and other members of his medical team during an earlier news conference at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, in which they described the president as fever-free, in “exceptionally good spirits,” and telling them he felt well enough to leave the hospital that day.

The statement from Meadows was originally distributed to the media through a White House pool report and was attributed to “a source familiar with the president’s health.” ...

I still vividly recall how pleased people were to see the end of 2019, and how hopeful for 2020. This has been such an extraordinary and awful year that one hardly dares to wonder what may come next. Yet it occurred to me to ask myself what it would take to perfectly cap off the worst year of my lifetime. What possible thing could happen on December 31 to provide the perfect appropriate conclusion to 2020?

After thinking about it for awhile, I could only come up with this: aliens landing on the White House lawn and demanding to be taken to our leader!

Dems lied to us, he's not doing everything possible to stop ACBs nomination, they just said that to collect record donations the last 2 weeks by focusing on abortion.  The Dems are quite happy to have the American people and media, tied-up transfixed, on the overturn of Roe v. Wade in a decade, meanwhile something far more important is happening.

What would you like them to do?

They don't have the votes - they can't stop it.   It's basically a done deal, the harder they push against ACB, the faster McConnell will try to push it through.  Screaming loudly about how corrupt and hypocritical the process is won't sway more Republican senators to cross the floor.  I expect Dems have done the numbers on the impact of opposing ACB because of her religious bias, that risks losing votes from moderate Christian/Catholics.

...reports of a prion disease (like CWD) being transmitted to humans, with human to human transmission confirmed.

That's a nightmare to make C-19 look like a minor inconvenience.

Also, I see that Biden has pulled all negative attack ads regarding Trump while he is sick. Former presidents have wished him a speedy recovery as well - but if the situation was reversed and, say, Biden was sick instead of Trump, would Trump do the same thing? Of course not.

pulling attacking ads the right thing to do if you're trying to be the difference and the bigger person and not be like one of them. but did they replace them with more appropriate ads to gain more votes?

i won't read to much into it. with all their medical technology antibodies and antivirals Trump will be fine. before you know it he'll be back and saying

"i told you it's like the flu and it'll go away", along with more lies and mocking people. and before you know it his ratings would go up.

Who knows?

The monoclonal antibody treatment isn't approved, Remdesivir might have some effect - or it might not - but it's not a silver bullet.
Rumours abound that Trump's having difficulty breathing and is on oxygen - hence his transfer to hospital.  While that's hardly unusual for an obese  unfit man in his mid 70's with Covid, it's also pretty damn quick for symptoms to be so bad "so early".  Which raises a question of how long he's actually been infected, he was supposed to have had a test before the debate - but apparently he didn't, so who knows - and who knows how many people he's infected.  He didn't seem unwell during the debate, just his normal unpleasant boastful lying self.

It would be a damned shame if he doesn't get the nasty dose he deserves - hopefully at least a Boris level reality check.  Because if he doesn't and "bounces back" - the bullsh*t he'll be spinning about his "remarkable recovery" will kill people.

We don't know how bad or good his underlying health is. We still do not know the reason for his mysterious hospital visit in November 2019. He is 74 and clinically obese. Apparently he has moderate heart disease along with mild plaque build up in his blood vessels which are all just age related factors. His diet has and is not the best (Go McDonald's and Coke Cola) and he does not do any meaningful exercise. So these are all statistical risk factors. It also must be noted that he appeared tired, run down in the preceding 24/48 hours prior to testing positive.

We are also getting conflicting reports from Walter Reed doctors and the White House. I would tend to believe the doctors more than the WH mob which could be getting instructions from Trump to deliberately sow confusion but that is just DJT 101 tactics that we all know.

BUT SARS-CoV-2 just loves risk factors so either way his ongoing pathology is now worse off and will stay that way and may even decline further, than prior to his catching COVID-19. Scientists are still learning what the ongoing effects of post acute recovery are. How chronic is this disease ?

Whatever - he will certainly play this and ring it dry till the day his body does actually self terminate. ☠️+ ⚰️=😀

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

He didn't have a test before the debate but some reported he knew 72 hours before announcing, so it could well be within date ranges - and why he didn't want a test then... Imagine if he tested positive and the debate was cancelled?

Like a jerk he is, likely he declined the test, regardless of putting other people in an unsafe situation.

I don't know, but it would probably involve the words "Windows 10", "update", and "widespread".

Trump will beat Covid-19 just to confirm in his mind "It's just like the flu!"

That's the way 2020 is going!

I haven't watched but surely the headline question is wrong, seeing people are already voting in some states/counties?

Six kids no masks bad judgement:

Imo Biden not wearing a mask at the debate was sub-optimal.
