Possibly because the National Party doesn’t (officially) operate a quota system for their candidates.
It shows.

I agree.

I have come to the conclusion that National do not want to win the election. The Green Party and NZ First are actively trying to avoid parliament.
The Greens - despite their horrible failures lol - at least appear to be making an election pitch with a UBI policy - I can't debate the merits of it but its a pitch nonetheless.
NZ First..... holy @#$%. Have to agree there, I have never seen a bigger train wreck of incompetent nothing campaigning that's stuck in the 20th century, considering there's actually plenty to attack & claim achievement for. I'm sure Winston thinks his debate moment can fix everything but when you're polling at 2% that's not a strategy - that's being senile.
I suspect if Winston loses this election, he'll probably give up on politics. He is getting on a bit now.

He is off for urgent surgery this week. I sincerely hope he's OK. I don't agree with his approach, but I have some grudging admiration for his tenacity. I can't see Peters ever giving up politics. He's likely to "die on the hog". Bonus point for anyone who can name the book series that saying comes from without doing a search.

Walker quits politics altogether.
Good riddance. To Boag as well. Staggering lack of perspective from both to release that info. Setting aside the unforgiveable ethical breach ... a moments forethought and a modicum of self preservation should deter any rational person from such a wreckless act.
I've never been impressed by Boag, but I didn't think she was this dumb.

There should be a very good turnout of greens voters this year, they finally have the reeferendum they've been waiting for so long.
Mike
I'm not sure where to put this but I guess this is as good a place as any. According to the Spinoff, Woodhouse has now admitted also receiving Boag's confidential patient information and Boag has quit the National Party and politics. Quote from her: “For 47 years, I have devoted much of my professional and personal life to supporting the party that for me has always represented the ultimate kiwi values of hard work, reward for effort, self-reliance and compassion. Unfortunately this passion has put me on a self-destructive path.”
Not only that, she has also done a pretty good job of destructing the National Party. Finally, she has done something worthwhile. I am very much looking forward to the election.

I see you are continuing your downward spiral by parroting this false narrative. The Greens are about social justice, but go ahead and make it about drugs along with all the other reactionary types who fear change.

MikeAqua:Pollsters always say Winston will never get in pretty much every election. They only got it right once as they always write him off. If he finally doesn't get back in, even then there is no writing him off, as he took victory from the jaws of defeat last time he lost out. He might be getting on, though I wouldn't put it past Winston staying in politics on his terms - and only quitting when he retires or meets his maker.quickymart:I suspect if Winston loses this election, he'll probably give up on politics. Boag gone. Walker gone. Yang gone. This is shaping up to be quite a week.

And Woodhouse looking like he could become a homeless man...
He deleted the emails (received in late June) on Monday or Tuesday after he realised she was the source of the leak. He said he thought it was the right thing to do.
Asked whether he thought it was appropriate to delete emails that could be pertinent to a QC's inquiry, Woodhouse said it could equally be inappropriate to have the emails.
"I understand the information I have is different from that essential to Heron's inquiry."
Much of that doesn't add up.
Also Toddy said he was not aware that Woodhouse had an e-mail either.

Last one out please turn off the lights😀
Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.
I joking said on twitter early this week "Tomorrows headline: Simon announces cabinet reshuffle" , who knew that by Friday it was getting close to reality.
Whats next, Act will not contest some seats so National can get into Parliament ?
This "leak" is turning into a very very bad time for National, everyone involved should have known better.
