Batman:

this sounds very sensible, not sure how doable though.

but then those who have been around long enough might already have biases with mr prebble

He should stick to retirement

and Winston should retire...well past his use be date.

Helen Clark had too much to say as well during the election campaign!

Age has nothing to do with ability. Ageism is distasteful

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Hardly doable, let alone sensible. But that Richard Prebble for you. He makes David Seymour look very left wing...

Winston is a selfish SOB that only ever considers himself. He is the longest serving MP and in fact served under Muldoon. As I said well past his due by date. If you read ageism into that..then its time to revisit your optician or your GP for more happy pills.

I will quote the definition for  "Ageism (also spelled "agism") is stereotyping and discriminating against individuals or groups on the basis of their age"

His age is irrelevant to my point. I am no spring chicken myself and have in fact enjoyed a few drinks with both Winston and Mike Moore at the Green Parrot several times.

1978 general election.

Muldoon's Nats won 51/92 seats with 39.8% of the vote, Rowling's labour only managed to get 40 seats with 40.4% of the vote.
By this time Muldoonism was already becoming a disaster for NZ's economy.

So much for people wanting a return to FPP - no thanks!

Peters lost on election night, but after a rather bitter fight, somehow managed to get in under a recount, votes were disallowed - not because any rational person would consider that the intention of the voter wasn't clear, but they'd not followed instructions and put a line or an X - or something not clearly visible as a perfect tick in the box.

So that was Peter's entry to parliament - as an MP in a party that had lost the popular vote, and he was in on a technicality.

He is not young, he is not poor, he loves fishing, he doesnt need to be here, but he is. We need to think, what politicians are career motivated, and who are there to try to make a difference? Peters isn't the kingmaker, they all are, read this  http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/politics/97732893/so-you-want-to-get-into-bed-with-winston

The current "situation" is way over exposed, its a media wonderland, and thats all it is

Someone on RNZ today said he is the only MP to be voted out of parliament in three different constituencies!

So what? Someone who loves fishing and doesn't "need" to be here doesn't mean there is no hidden agenda. I refer to one Robert Mugabe for example.

Why is it that Peters is god and Seymour is stupid and Prebble should stick to retirement?

You forgot to post where I said he was God

If you feel he has no interest in whats best for NZ and just wants to play a power game, thats a sad indictment on NZ politics. Take the frenzy since the election result two weeks ago. Its been way out there, but in fact he has been crystal clear. Its everyone else making the headlines go wild. Whatever happens, his presence of power will dilute some Nat or Labour policies, and get some of his in. Given that Nat/Lab do not have a mandate, thats a fair result. Better than buying ACT and Maori

Correct, both parties have stated more than once that PM and Finance Minister is not up for grabs. Aside from any layperson also seeing that is bizarre, for Seymour to grab a headline, shows he is not relevant anymore. If he ever was.
