Why didn't the bullying and harassment victims speak out before now?
Will people willingly accept such treatment for 'the party'? Or are they forced to?
Most of the posters in this thread are just like chimpanzees on MDMA, full of feelings of bonhomie, joy, and optimism. Fred99 8/4/21

Because some people are afraid others won't believe them. Because the party might force their hands to be silent. Because they are threatened by the accused?
There are lots of things and one thing we shouldn't do is ask "why they didn't come forward before".

Exactly, I remember reading a few of them saying that he would threaten either them or their careers if they spoke out. Now he has no real career to speak of (certainly not in politics, anyway) they have nothing to lose.

It takes a high degree of courage to go against a senior MP, also victims are more than likely already in a bad mental state due to their treatment. Given New Zealands habit of victim blaming coming forward is doubly harder.
Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.
In that case they need to start with the party president.

Tau Henare hits the nail on the head (the ones that should roll)
According to the 6pm news Ross has just been 'admitted into care'. No further details yet.

MikeB4: I hope he gets the help he needs and makes a speedy recovery.
True.
The article I read - he was taken by police. From my dim memories of having to get a family member sectioned, it's a hell of a legal process (as it should be) - more or less you have to prove they're at a serious risk of self-harm - or of harming others. Incoherent and bizarre behaviour isn't enough.
Until or unless more is known, this line of the discussion should probably be suspended. Let us all wish him a full recovery.
