National have been the winner in past coalition negotiations, and dependant on coalition and supply agreements.

Criticising the process could be sabotaging their own future.

My issue was the theatrics. I would have been fine with the time frame if WP had of either not said crazy stuff like "we will have it sorted within a week" which he should have known better than to do.

I also have an issue that WP who he tried to position himself as the hero of for farmers and regions, and then went against them in supporting Labour. Federated Farmers aren't happy. I'd say his credibility with them is done.

MMP only works when there are a number of smallish parties with different or flexible political leanings.

When WP retires NZF are toast so we are going to end up with just 2 large parties and 2 minnows (assuming David Seymour carries on) that always side with the same party so, even though most people don't seem to want it, that's pretty much the same as FPP.

I think there will be just 3 main parties, the Greens might flourish now, and be a large minority party, than a minnow. ACT must go. NZF as you say will falter and if Greens make the most of eco policies they will pick up a lot of younger votes, maybe a large number of party votes.

But you still just end up with 2 pretty constant left/right 'blocks' as the Greens won't go with National, apparently under any circumstances. We need small parties who are happy to negotiate an arrangement with pretty well anybody for MMP to work properly.
