Maybe. It's hard to know right now. It seems likely to me that Labour is just more aligned with what Peters wants to achieve this time around.

I will say, however, that I am impressed that JA did manage to wrangle this deal with WP. It's somewhat of a good start, though we will probably never know if it was her negotiating skills or WP's desire to not form with National.

From what we have seen so far, and I was concerned it was a bidding war, it seems to be compatibility with policies rather than over bidding. Im not sure it was wrangling a deal than that there were more compatibilities.

With Labour providing the Speaker gives a very precarious government with a very strong opposition. Good luck to her. Although with so much assistance given by my previous posters she will have no problem succeeding.

I was worried about the greedy aspect, from both parties, I dont see that now. It seems that Labour was more compatible with NZF policies. Housing, Immigration, Health.

Not surprising, they may as well introduce a capital gains tax themselves. They don't want to negatively affect their own voters :)

That makes sense. They could have gone for a compromise of much lower immigration but not down to 10,000 p.a. Immigration affects housing and health, so it is a biggie. Peters wants low immigration, and of the people that we need, not low wage earners to pick up jobs that kiwis could have. Its not really about low immigration, its about the right immigration.

Kiwis are refusing to pick up the low wage jobs..have you not been watching the news the last few years?

The only thing saving our fruit industry is low wage pickers from off shore, and many more examples. NZ has very low unemployment....lowest in decades. Cut immigration and watch and see what happens.....unless of course you drastically cut NZ's economy so our unemployment rate skyrockets.

What happens after the fruit picking season? Where do they work? Entry level jobs where kiwis are available. Your point is the same issue in southern US states, but while I have no issue with that, non fruit picking season is a problem. You could easily ramp up a tourist scheme to encourage tourists, i.e. backpacker types to come here with good tourist terms, to work, then they continue travelling. We need to think outside the square. Every immigrant needs a house, lets say half a house if its a couple, they need healthcare, they need blend into road traffic. If we allow 70,000 immigrants a year, all these issues have to be increased continually to fit them into houses, doctors, hospitals, and roads. But we dont do that. Welcome 2017

Eventually - but with limits.

IIRC gradually phased in to apply to first year for first time students from 2018, 2 years free from 2021, 3 years free from 2024.

It's not just university, but other tertiary institutions - Polytech, ITOs etc.

There's a requirement (once the 2nd/3rd years kick in) that students pass at least 50% of courses from the previous year to qualify for free fees in subsequent years.

He didnt.

He has no real issue wit Peters, and Id rather have him with Nats or Labs than either alone and in full unbridled power. The water tax is gone, one example. A coalition reduces radical changes. When Nats had ACT and Maori that made no difference, as they didnt rate. had Peters chosen National, I'd be more than ok with that, for the reasons above

Does anyone have a link to the party votes breakdown for each region?

Did AKL/Chch/Rural (farmers) all voted National and the rest of the country voted for the governing parties for example.
