So when is the prohibition due to Godwin’s Law applied? Not in all circumstances apparently.
That particular post of mine wouldn't have been Godwins if Stephen Miller was in charge of propaganda from the WH. He's actually a policy adviser to the WH, responsible for promoting and implementing the policy of separating immigrant children from their parents, has been outed for promoting white supremacism - and nazi ideology (despite having Jewish parents).
It's probably no coincidence that since Trump's rise, Mike Godwin has made several comments relevant to how Godwin's law could be interpreted:
"If you're thoughtful about it and show some real awareness of history, go ahead and refer to Hitler when you talk about Trump, or any other politician."
With reference to the "alt-right" activists in America:
"By all means, compare these sh!theads to the Nazis. Again and again. I'm with you."

And now to Stephen Miller and his policies of separating immigrant children from their families:
I have no hesitation calling Stephen Miller a Nazi, and I'm confident Mike Godwin would have my back.
Godwin's law came to prominence in a time when we thought we'd learned lessons from history, but that's changed.

WASHINGTON — House Democrats are exploring whether President Trump lied in his written answers to Robert S. Mueller III’s investigation, a lawyer for the House told a federal appeals court on Monday, raising the prospect of an additional basis for an article of impeachment.
The acknowledgment refocused attention on a quiet debate among Democrats about whether any impeachment of Mr. Trump should go beyond the Ukraine affair and also accuse him of obstructing the Russia investigation.
Additional evidence, hidden in grand jury files, that Mr. Trump may have lied under oath to Mr. Mueller could bolster the case for an additional article of impeachment.
The House lawyer’s statement was also striking because it came shortly after Mr. Trump said he may also be willing to provide written answers about the Ukraine matter to impeachment investigators.
“Even though I did nothing wrong, and don’t like giving credibility to this No Due Process Hoax, I like the idea & will, in order to get Congress focused again, strongly consider it!” Mr. Trump wrote on Twitter. ...
