Varkk:

There is no one with a 'D' after their name that they would accept. They could stand up a decorated war veteran with a spotless record who volunteers at their church and they would still call them satan incarnate and vote for Trump.

That may be true of the rabid Trump supporters, but not of the more moderate Republicans or undecided voters. If the Democrats can increase voter turnout, the Republicans have no chance of fairly* winning in 2020.

Everybody has now seen that Trump's campaigning was not just pre-election rhetoric, with the belief that he would settle into the job if elected. He has demonstrated that he is unquestionably unfit to lead. Putting aside policy differences, numerous bigotries, or sheer incompetence for one moment, he is continuously actively seeking to divide the voting public. This is an attribute that no nation should have in their leader.

*But the chances of it being a fair fight appear to be getting slimmer by the day.

The Washington Post -  The 5-Minute Fix

today

Monday’s impeachment news, in a sentence:

A federal judge just ruled that the White House’s former top lawyer, Donald McGahn, has to talk to Congress even though the White House has banned him from doing so.

Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson called the White House ban on officials, past and present, complying with subpoenas “an affront to the mechanism for curbing abuses of power that the Framers carefully crafted for our protection."

She did not mince words about this. ...

This ruling could give other people who were close to Trump cover to talk about Ukraine. ...

If only the Democrats had some morals, this might make some sense
No one thinks Hunter Biden “earned” that money from the Ukrainian gas company, his surname did.

Instead voters know that the technocrat Democrats are happy with the status quo, Biden stood side by side with 8 years of Obama, that delivered virtually nothing for the average American worker. Besides, the average American couldn’t careless about aid to Ukraine, don’t think this incident rises to the level of impeachment, and with less than a year till elections, thinks this is a waste of time and money.

If the impeachment goes ahead it will screw over Warren and Bernie as they’ll be stuck in Congress for 6 days a week, instead of campaigning.

And yet Republicas had no problems with an impeachment over a denial of blow job... Which counts as much less as elections tampering in my books.

But hey, let's not let the fact of people hating a black president for being black (and not having a majority to govern all the time either) being at play here too.

All the deflection in the world doesn't excuse the fact Trump nor any of his cronies will testify under oath.
You know who testified under oath for 12 hours without being caught out for lying. Hillary.
So you can take that completely baseless Fox News conspiracy theory and put up or shut up.

I wish someone would put up and shut up Rupert Murdoch, who has done far more than Donald Trump, or any other individual, to undermine and destroy Western liberal democracy.

Except bail America out of its worst financial crisis for decades, and, as thanks, being blocked by Republican blockheads from being able to properly govern for his second 4-year term.

Much could be said about evangelicals twisting themselves into pretzels to rationalise Trump's behaviour, but there is one thing in particular that seems glaringly obvious to me, and I would really like to have a serious discussion with an evangelical about it, except I'm not sure how to have a serious discussion with an evangelical about anything.

Anyway, here goes: If you really do believe that the Bible conveys the Word of God, and everything it says should be taken as the literal truth, then what are you supposed to think about the New Testament warnings of the Antichrist? This is supposed to be the devil in disguise, able to dazzle and charm people and convince them that he is the good guy. So how can believers be so certain that this is not what Trump is? Why are they so credulous in this particular case? The more they adhere to Trump, the more it seems like he really could be taking them all for a huge ride. Everything he says and does seems to come chillingly close to some of the Gospel descriptions. Is the devil not very clever at this sort of thing? How can you know this is not he?

It is really interesting to Google this. There is too much to quote here, but the following sums it up nicely:

Traits of the Antichrist Described in the Bible

  • Intelligent: Revelation 13:18; Daniel 7:8.
  • Charismatic Speaker: Daniel 7:8 Revelation 13:5.
  • Crafty Politician: Daniel 9:27; Revelation 17:12, 13, 17.
  • Distinct Physical Appearance: Daniel 7:20.
  • Military Genius: Revelation 4; 17:14; 19:19.
  • Economic Genius: Daniel 11:38.
  • Blasphemer: Revelation 13:6.
  • Utterly Lawless: 2 Thessalonians 2:8.
  • Selfish, Ambitious Egomaniac: Daniel 11:36, 37; 2 Thessalonians 2:4.
  • Greedy Materialist: Daniel 11:38.
  • Controlling:  Daniel 7:25.
  • Proud and Self-exalting Above God and Everything: Daniel 11:36; 2 Thessalonians. 2:4.

Some of these traits could be argued about, of course, like the intelligence and genius, though these are the very things Trump himself claims. I just don't understand how anyone can base their life on the bible, yet gloss over something as obvious as this.

The Washington Post - Investigators scrutinize Giuliani firm and donations to Trump super PAC as part of broad probe

November 26, 2019

The federal investigation into two associates of Rudolph W. Giuliani is exploring a wide range of potential crimes - including wire fraud and failure to register as a foreign agent - as prosecutors dig into the pair’s interactions with the president’s personal lawyer and the main pro-Trump super PAC, according to people familiar with the investigation.

Giuliani’s dealings with the two men, Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman, are being investigated by federal prosecutors at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York.

That office has already filed campaign finance charges against Parnas and Fruman and accused them of conspiracy and making false statements to the Federal Election Commission.

According to people familiar with the ongoing case, investigators are scrutinizing Giuliani’s consulting business and eyeing donations made to America First Action, the main pro-Trump super PAC set up by his advisers and allies after his election, as well as its affiliated nonprofit.

As part of the probe, federal prosecutors are examining a raft of other potential crimes, including foreign lobbying registration violations, destruction or alteration of documents, aiding and abetting federal crimes, and foreign contributions to U.S. candidates ...

Parnas and Fruman have pleaded not guilty. ...

Rikkitic:...what are you supposed to think about the New Testament warnings of the Antichrist

I've been around a lot of evangelists. Many want to be about the "rapture," the end time event when all Christian believers who are alive, along with the resurrected dead believers, will rise "in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air".

There are American ranchers who raise red heifers, reddish-brown cows. More specifically, a two years old cow who can be air shipped quickly to Israel and burnt on short notice to the entrance to the tabernacle. The condition of the cow must be perfect, and had never used a yoke.

Turning the world to sh1t, even bringing about a full-blown nuclear war, is good: it brings the end times closer.

It's not a small fringe group either.

From the Washington Post

Half of evangelicals support Israel because they believe it is important for fulfilling end-times prophecy

...LifeWay Research conducted a poll evaluating the views of evangelical Americans on issues related to Israel and the politics of the Middle East. ... Among the questions was one about the biblical promise of the Holy Land to Abraham and his descendants. Two-thirds of respondents strongly agreed that the promise was an eternal one from God.

But it’s also worth picking out another part of what Jeffress said to CNN. Jerusalem, he said, is “the touchstone of prophecy.” That prophecy is the biblical prophecy of the return of Jesus Christ and the beginning of the Rapture — the end times.

I couldn't agree more. While I'm not religious, I've been convinced for some time that Trump is the Antichrist, if only because he's the direct opposite of JC (if he existed)

But regardless of whether he existed did or not, JC is the epitome of everything that a man could aspire to be, and an example of how we should all behave towards others.

Whereas Trump has NO redeeming qualities at all.

As I said a while back, he's the AC of DC 👹

BTW: Like it or not, Trump has America in thrall. And it's not going to be easy to break the spell. I doubt even sharpened stakes would work against Beelzebubby.
