sir1963:  Apparently cry baby Trump packed a sad and left the Nato gathering early.

The Washington Post - World leaders have long mocked each other. With Trump, they mean it.

today

It’s rarely nice to hear others’ unvarnished views about you.

But when you’re the president of the United States - even one whose craving for affirmation requires a daily avalanche of false and misleading statements - the candid truth shouldn’t be such a shock.

On Tuesday, a group of world leaders gathered at a reception at Buckingham Palace.

Unaware they were being filmed, they appeared to discuss the elephant in the room.

“I just watched his team’s jaws drop to the floor,” Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said to the circle, which included French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

His name was not mentioned in the clip, but President Trump had little doubt he was the elephant.

On Wednesday morning, he abruptly canceled a planned news conference to head home early ...

... For a president who proclaims his own success in making America “respected again” and whose turn to politics followed a grueling round of mockery at the hands of his predecessor, it’s a bitter pill to swallow.

And with an election year coming up, it’s hard to spin world leaders laughing at you as a success - Trump himself tweeted in 2014: “We need a President who isn’t a laughingstock to the entire World.”

Waste of time.  Corruption is bipartisan.  Donald Trump will come out of this totally exonerated, vindicated.  This is simply wasting precious time where Democrats could be creating a positive vision for America, and solving the real problems that got Trump elected in the first place.

kingdragonfly: Title of this video should be:"'Florida man' puts woman in her place."

Good job Republicans raising the discourse of political discussion :(

The Democrats problem is they have very little evidence of wrong doing.  Their best witness is Sondland, whose main evidence is based around presumption.

Democrats are avoiding being a real opposition party, as they benefit from the establishment as well, they avoid honest self reflection as to why they lost the election.

American voters don't care about Ukraine.

The Harvard law professor above is meant to be providing expert testimony on the constitution, and why impeachment is justified, instead we got her hassling the first son Baron, and this unhinged cold war chauvinism.

Democrats are rallying behind things voters don't care about.  Yesterday Trump changed the food stamps rules, that will remove the SNAP program from 750,000 Americans, instead of talking about things like that, they're talking about an impeachment.

Nope.  That's just how the media you see has portrayed things to you.

"While the president can name his son Barron, he can’t make him a baron."

You're calling that "unhinged cold war chauvinism"?  I hope you don't believe what you're saying.

Trump's installed the rest of his kids into positions way above their experience and ability, his favourite daughter is "working for free" in the WH.  That avoids the law - she doesn't then need security clearance, and she surely doesn't need the money, the little princess declared US$138 million income last year, thanks to daddy.

The awful "birther" FLOTUS is sensitive about Barron for fairly obvious reasons, Democrats and the media have respected that.  She actually doesn't give a damn about anybody else's kids - especially if they're brown - she made that 100% clear.

With the exception of Barron and Tiffany, the rest of Trump's kids are behaving exactly like princelings and princesses of old, meddling in international affairs, and using their positions to amass huge fortunes.

The pun about baron was a nothingburger, getting triggered by that was stupid projection - ie "hassling her first son" That's BS.

nathan: Firstly no need to drop to anyone’s level by hassling Baron. There’s no upside to that, only downsides.

Nobody hassled Barron.  Barron has two r's.  There was a pun made.  In context it was harmless. Republicans "project".  Melania actually used Barron politically and put him right in the spotlight by making a fuss about it - to try and turn it around.  That's called "projecting".

nothing to do with the media.  I watched the impeachment inquiry with my own eyes.

there was no need for those comments about the First Son.  She would've been better off to not say that, as it takes away from the rest of her message.

Yes I believe everything I'm saying

the cold way chauvinism comments I refer to are about what she said about the Ukraine.

I'd hardly call what was said "hassling Baron", but more a dig at Trump acting like he is a King. Barron's name was merely used as a pun to segue to that relevant discussion point. It was not an attack on him, but on his father who thinks that President should be above the law. And the law professor that said it apologized shortly after. See here (start at the 1 minute mark).

This is classic GOP distract with feigned outrage tactics.

Pelosi told reporters she doesn’t hate Trump and that the impeachment effort is unrelated to politics.

Asked if she hates the president, Pelosi responded, “I don’t hate anyone,” and that as a Catholic she resents having the word attributed to her. “Don’t mess with me when it comes to words like that,” she said.

“I think he is a coward when it comes to helping our kids who are afraid of gun violence,” the speaker said. “I think he is cruel when he doesn’t help our Dreamers. I think he is denial about the climate crisis.”

“However, that’s about the election,” she said, while impeachment “is about the Constitution of the United States.”

Trump’s conduct regarding Ukraine is related to her contention that “all roads lead to Putin,” Pelosi said. “Who benefited form our withholding military assistance? Russia.”

(Pelosi is as sharp as a tack - why do you thing Republicans hate her so much?)

all I'm saying is, this gives GOP supporters something to moan about

Her evidence would've been more compelling without that, and without the standard national security state apparatus talking points

And for those that don't have the time, patience, or ability to view the above video, here is the actual quote that is causing the outrage.

So while the president can name his son "Barron", he can't make him a Baron.
