Seems to me that this whole thing was brought on then by Telecom's decision to bring forward the launch date of the XT network. Otherwise the pointy-heads would have continued along the path they were on to sort out the interference issues. Perhaps the cost of remedy might have been a sticking point?

Oh well. A delay but at least not a complete stop.

Maybe some of the Telecom fanboys shouldn't have publically criticised Vodafone so quickly..

Plenty of egg flying around today..

Just reading back through some of the original posts. Looks like Mikman got it right in the second post after the Forum started.

Then there are those "other" posts, ouch egg on face.

This makes their whole campaign look like a joke now they can't even deliver a functioning network when all their marketing material (including the test drive website) suggests....

Vodafone got what they wanted: delay, and a bit of mud splashed on Telecom's face in the process. The Telecom marketing people should have their budget chopped for jumping the gun...but I'm still jumping ship to WCDMA...just have to tolerate the Vodafone crappy service a tad more.

Here's a question for the Telecom guys/gals on G'zone: now that the official launch is delayed, why don't Telecom roll out the handsets anyway and get them out into the community ready for when they throw the switch??

The history of the Telecom-Vodafone relationship in this space is that there is very rarely only one side to blame. People should remember that for future reference before jumping to conclusions.

Neither side come out of this looking very good. Telecom because they brought forward their launch before the interference issues were finally resolved, and Vodafone because they ran to Court when clearly continued dialogue was the best way forward. In that sense, shame on both of them, another sorry chapter in NZ telecommunications.

Lets just all look forward now to the arrival of the new network, to some real competition once NZ Comms get off the ground, and the the ComCom driving termination rates lower ...

Hmmm well maybe this is true, ok I admit it. I like to think of my self as 75/25 (75 telecom LOL)

You cannot deny that there are still serious problems with Vodafones network at the moment some caused by Telecom many caused by Vodafone, I think this whole issue has highlighted some of them.  Atleast Telecom wont be responsible for them come end of May which is good for all concerned.

I still wonder if this has gained more exposure for Telecom & as they say all Publicity is good publicity... well thats what I think they say!

I for one am dissapointed, well manly because I can't get my shiny new phone just yet! Dam you Telecom I have to wait some!

Hmmmm...
The out-of-court settlement, immediately makes you think: "Capitulation -Telecom was in the wrong".

But I suspect that there is much more to it than this. (Let's face it the opinions on this forum varied all over the show).
In terms of this forum I guess the Pro-Voda voices will ring a litle louder... ;o)

Nonetheless I will be interested to see what the press make of the whole thing in the next couple of days.

Fascinating...

You can be sure that it will be spun, squeaky wheel and all that!

I am just wanting to know what those who had been gearing up for a 13h of May launch are going to do now?

As said above

"Here's a question for the Telecom guys/gals on G'zone: now that the official launch is delayed, why don't Telecom roll out the handsets anyway and get them out into the community ready for when they throw the switch??"

Personally I hope this is the case! but i doubt it!
