Am interested in the new Telecom Ultra VDSL. We have just received the free upgrade offer.
I know it will cost $99 to install
I have some questions.
1) Our current ADSL Router (Netgear N600) uses both 2.4GHz and 5 GHz is the telecom one?
2) I assume the Telecom TG587 will replace our currnet ADSL Modem ( netgear N600)
3) Can we still use our current ADSL Modem as a hub? OUr Netgear has 4 Gigabit ports, The Telecom one has 10/100. I assume we can set our Netgear as a hub and connect to the one gigabit port on the TG587? thus maintaining our 1 GB home network???
4) DO they fit a master ADSL filter? This was something i was going to do anyway.
5) We run 3rd party software on our router. If we use the TG587 as a modem, can we still run the software on our router set up as a hub?
It seems to me having typed all that up that the only advantage we will be getting is connection speed. Is it worth messing about with our home network, for the increase? Is it worth all the upheaval/hassle???
