Heh, well, I guess it wasn't significantly more expensive, but now?...

OT: Anyone know why underline doesn't work?

Pricing may be in line. The internet plans though, no comparison. Data caps, anyone?
Yay for more expensive internet, low data caps and non existent fibre!

Seriously why reduce the difference in pricing between naked and POTS DSL even more?! One of the big problems atm for UFB is providers don't have VOIP platforms that are needed for UFB and this won't encourage them to develop them.

A thought for the ComCom re fibre vs copper prices.
Using the plumbing analogy about size of pipes and overall volume at speed associated with the flow why not for the same or similar price raise data caps on fibre based connections as opposed to copper pair caps as a means of incentive for consumers to migrate from copper to fibre. (Where available). Await 'your' thoughts.

The discussion on this release is here (with more information from the commission than that half baked article and a link to download the report).

Cameronn:

Now that all of this is out of the way our bean counters are back in business and we'll hopefully have our new plans ready early 2012.

Are you going to change basic monthly payment ($99 for fusion over fibre) or change only a price for data? Feel free to ignore my question, if you can't answer.

I want to pay you $50-60 more than I pay now, but I'm not ready to pay this money just for connection.

Wont ignore you but I cant give you an answer as there are a couple of options being looked at , we were put back by the ComCom decision so now we need to rethink.

Just had a representative from Vodafone at the door. $120 for 120GB including phone + free My sky. Very tempting. If in January the new plans aren't sufficiently better, I may be jumping ship.

Currently paying about $25/month to Sky for the basic package. Salesman said we could basically get a free DVR, which could be handy. I'm more interested in getting better internet, any extras as a result of changing are just a bonus as far as I'm concerned.

You need to have a Sky TV subscription.  The offer is a free upgrade to MySky (which I'm taking advantage of)

This is getting a bit OT, but have a look here if free MySky is all you want...

Ok..so where are the new plans?...I switched away from Xnet cause the cost per mb was uncompetitive and I got a better deal at Slingshot. However, while the data quantity is great at Slingshot...their throttling is not. So, if a decent plan were offered at Xnet I'd consider moving tolls and broadband back - even if it was slightly more expensive. $1.28 per gb does not cut it though and is a pretty good incentive to stay where I am :/
