xpd: Ignore the phone number, I can have a French phone number diverted to my landline.

Whoever youve spoken to has obviously just looked at the number and gone "thats Glenfield" and had no idea what they were talking about in regards to ADSL connections etc.

This Data has been recently confirmed from inside Vodafones Faulting and Esclations Team, I didn't give them any info, they ran the tests as I spoke to them. Again, smoke blowing?

And Chorus, through Vodafone, have stated today in a call we are stuck at Glenfield. Man someone, somewhere is having a giggle!

WM/B & WM/G Cover Old Nth Rd From Ararimu Valley Rd in the East to Just after Taylors Rd in the West and has been commented on already HL/W covers the bit further west - that should help narrow it down

WM/B is Copper feed approx 1.7km from WM exch (Location cnr Waikoukou Valley Rd & Old Nth Rd (1011))

WM/G is Fibre Feed from WM exch (location 1153 Old Nth Rd)

WM/B is the one we would like to be connected to. HL/W is the same distance away, but much older and overloaded.

However both our ISP and Chorus say we cant be connected to either!

isnt glenfeild the main exchange handover/hub on the shore.... is this the confusion? but not possible for you to be directly connected, you wouldnt even get reasonable dial up at that distance.

sbiddle: You're not connected to the Glenfield exchange, you're not on ULL, and you're not on ADSL2+

You're connected using ADSL1, you're on a Chorus wholesale connection, and you're on an ASAM - very likely a Conklin.

If you're seeing erratic peak time speeds you can start researching the many, many, many, many other threads on here that discuss this very issue. Unless you area is being upgraded with an ISAM as part of RBI, nothing will change your speed, and it will never improve as the Conklin is the cause of the problem.

You have said very firmly "You're not, you're not, you're not..." - but could you tell me why you are so sure of this please?

We've had a lot of conflicting opinions from within Vodafone, until we (eventually) reached their 'faulting & technical escalations team' who did some back end rootling around and told us what I've reported above.

If you have better info that has got to help - but without you saying why and how you can be so definite I have to assume they know more about it...

In the absence of it all being magically fixed (sigh) even different info would feel like progress.

approximately where do you live? name of the road is fine, someone will be able to tell you where you are connected from that.

That's what I would have thought, yes the post thread is misleading. What I am trying to find out is where can I go from here. Is all of Helensville connected to the rest of the country via Glenfield? If not, where ARE they connected from? We are NOT on the "shore"

The kids school (Waimauku) gets really fast internet, being only 800m or so from the Waimauku exchange, surely we can be connected to the WM/B cabinet then to the Waimauku exchange?

I agree, so why copper to whatever cabinet, then why a connection to Glenfield, be it fibre or whatever? From Helensville?

Man if he is that high, maybe he can wade in and help out?

Had the number here for 6 years, and we inherited that from the previous owners, possibly even from the ones before that. Apparently he(she) had a business on the shore and had (somehow) the house connected to the shore.

You tell me, I'm repeating what I've been told by techies, not just call centre staff.

i sued 1450 as your address: going of that you should be connected to HL/W near the corner of old north road and wishart road which is off the helensville exchange. This is about 1.8km from your property

someone should be able to confirm that

if you are closer to 1280 you might be even worse off

you cant just up and change where your phone line is connected easily if at all
