vinnieg:
The VFX with my original telecom number is working great, I called it from my cellphone, it dials straight through, none of this waiting a few seconds for it to go through the exchange, then down the other exchanges before it connects, takes about 1 sec after i press the send button, it's awesomely weird :)

brianthomas: Can someone please confirm that if i get VFX without quitting Telecom and then after a month sign up for Fusion, will they port my VFX number to Fusion like they can port Telecom.

brianthomas: I think when signing up to VFX you can tell them to not list the number in phonebook right? I want that option to avoid telemarketers

smbunn: As a Telstra Clear customer I understand I need to switch my line to Telecom, even for only one day. This will cost $49 plus the number portiability charge. I can sign up to telecom tolls for a $50 credit but need a minimum month contract at $44. What has everyone else done?
Once on Telecom I get NDSL set up with XNET Fusion, and that process cancels my Telecom account?
Then I pay the number portability charge again from telecom to XNET.
Does it really need to be this complex? Why can't XNET deal with Telstra directly?
mus1402: Could someone please tell me what should I do step-by-step in order for me to transfer my Telecom phone line to Xnet Fusion?
mus1402: 1) do I still need to use phone line to connect my broadband or is it wireless??
mus1402: 2) Is it still local-call free (eg Wellington region) like normal phone line? then what is 5c national call??
mus1402: 3) if I choose not to use VoIP would it be cheaper? or I dont have a choice??
