Well mines on :) just like Jodi said the 21st, even better that it's a holiday down here in Wellington, oh yeah

Works fine :) getting speeds on the consumerspeedtest.org.nz of just over 7000k down and 980k up
The VFX with my original telecom number is working great, I called it from my cellphone, it dials straight through, none of this waiting a few seconds for it to go through the exchange, then down the other exchanges before it connects, takes about 1 sec after i press the send button, it's awesomely weird :)

Call ID works, anonomous call block works :) no more pranks/telemarketers, just need to try out the call waiting + voicemail, but so far so good, also having no line filters really helps with the line, I might get interleaving turned off considering my DB and ATT are so extremely good :S and while debugging my modem it says it's only dropped one packet in around 10,000, so yeah I don't think the error checking is actually donig that much at the moment :)

Speedwise, excellent :) much better than the old river 128k/6000k i was getting before, fully recommend it.

Big ups to Jodi from Xnet Sales and Maverick who went beyond the call of duty :)

I've never noticed this on conventional service before, except when a call was being forwarded.

weird, it might just be either my exchange or the wiring I swapped over, it was a pretty botched job before I cleaned it up :)

Fusion is VFX and HSI. The number wouldn't need to be ported at all.

Other than that: confirmed.
You can get VFX without 'quitting' Telecom.

BTW: Are you wanting to ditch your Telecom number?

Yeah I will notify my friends and family the VFX number then ditch Telecom and switch to Fusion.  I think when signing up to VFX you can tell them to not list the number in phonebook right?  I want that option to avoid telemarketers

Yep, that is possible (you can also do that on your Telecom landline as well).

Anon call rejection should take care of the telespammers. Mum gets heaps calling and when I am there I just pick up private numbers with "not interested" and see what they ahve to say to that.

This really should be in a seporate thread altogether but to get rid of telemarketers (well most) add your name to the marketing black list over at : http://www.marketing.org.nz/cms/registration/2995 ,I've done it to about 4 peoples numbers and we have all noticed a dramatic reduction! maybe get 1 call a month now.

As a Telstra Clear customer I understand I need to switch my line to Telecom, even for only one day. This will cost $49 plus the number portiability charge.  I can sign up to telecom tolls for a $50 credit but need a minimum month contract at $44.  What has everyone else done?
Once on Telecom I get NDSL set up with XNET Fusion, and that process cancels my Telecom account?
Then I pay the number portability charge again from telecom to XNET.
Does it really need to be this complex?  Why can't XNET deal with Telstra directly?

Because those processes have not being made yet. Most people are with telecom so it makes sense to worry about getting those porting first before people who are already wholesaled thru someone else.

Until there is a documented process to do things, expecting 2 companies to coordinate the movement of a customer is asking for trouble. Xnet have no business relationship with telstra when it comes to a wholesaled telecom landline so expecting them to even deal with each other is a bit rich.

Well its only wholesaled, its no more than a billing things really. Telstra still do all their provisioning through a 'wireline' interface or bridge to wireline and wholesales telecom products....

If only I had known Xnet Fusion a few days earlier Yell. Now I have subscribed to Telecom phone line. Could someone please tell me what should I do step-by-step in order for me to transfer my Telecom phone line to Xnet Fusion?

Another thing I have several questions abt Xnet Fusion:
1) do I still need to use phone line to connect my broadband or is it wireless??
2) Is it still local-call free (eg Wellington region) like normal phone line? then what is 5c national call??
3) if I choose not to use VoIP would it be cheaper? or I dont have a choice??

Please let me know as soon as possible before I make the wrong decision.

Sign up using this form:

mus1402: 1) do I still need to use phone line to connect my broadband or is it wireless??

YES, you still need a phone line, it's not wireless.

mus1402: 2) Is it still local-call free (eg Wellington region) like normal phone line? then what is 5c national call??

If you are in the Wellington area, you will be given a local Wellington number which is free for other people to call in that area.  It is also free for you to make Local Calls.  Calls outside the Wellington area will be charged @ 5c per minute.

mus1402: 3) if I choose not to use VoIP would it be cheaper? or I dont have a choice??

You can get a $10 discount if you don't want VoIP i.e.

Fusion WITH VoIP $69.95 per month
Fusion WITHOUT VoIP $59.95 per month

Hopefully I have answered all your questions Smile

Actually at this stage if you are not with Telecom then you first need to switch to Telecom before switching to Fusion! Don't worry, WxC will do everything for you. See my post this evening about how it went for me going from WxC River to Fusion. You ar enot an existing WxC customer, so you need to phone them in order to sign up or get them to call you back. However this might take a few days due to popularity and the increased work involved in having to phone you.

1) It is still via the phone wire, but your phone will not work on the wires any more but needs to be plugged into WxC-approved VoBB (voice over broadband) hardware.

2) Local calls as defined by Telecom are still free, all other national calls are 5c per minute. Note that with Telecom if the call is not free then you need to dial the area code in front, but with WxC you don't so it can happen that you dial a 7 digit number which is actually charged at 5c per minute. It is up to you to know if the call is inside your free calling area.

3) With Fusion you get naked DSL plus VoBB, that is the only option at this stage (other than renting a traditional phone line from Telecom or who ever and getting normal ADSL via WxC).

Cheers,
Niel

EDIT: Oh, where did I miss the non-VoBB option? I really need those cheap Warehouse glasses!

You can never have enough Volvos!
