wow - thats an astounding amount of time to be without internet. We rely on it for everything at our house - TV, radio - everything. Cant believe it would take VF so long to replace.

Roll on UFB at our place so we have choice

I had an issue this morning with my HG659 dying (failed to power up despite trying multiple working power sockets), the customer service team said they would send out a replacement for me. Is it likely to be a replacement 659 or this one? They said 5-10 working days, I was a little astounded at the length of time, but pleaded with them to do it urgently (x3 teenage kids at home for school hols, can you imagine the grief)

As far as I can see this Admin password applies only to the older VDSL modem, HG659, and is not applicable to the Ultra Hub.

Ah yes, sorry. Ultra Hub has the credentials printed on the underside (user:vodafone, pass:12 alphanumeric chars). Not sure if there are any limitations that would need admin access.

Spare ones on Trademe are cheap so I always keep one. When your phones rely on it even more important especially if you live in a remote area like us.

I had to swap modem due to port forward issue not working. I wonder if new modem have same limitation as annoying to sign up to broadband provider and not be able port forward especially if you have static ip address. Other limitation of old modem was static routing didn't work either. By way that running most current firmware as well.

better to say 5-10 days and have it turn up in 3 than say 3 days and it turn up in 5 days

@stocksp I once had a single test SIM card take 4 business days to come from the bottom of Queen Street Auckland to Upper Queen Street Auckland so yes things don't happen overnight

Edit : This was on a very well known NZ courier and service was called overnight

This is the same experiance that I reported earlier (and poo pooed with "you must save" to take effect)

1. If you don't click save it should still have the old (default) password.

2. When you clilck save, it should save the new password.

You should never end up in limbo land with neither the older or the new password, therefor forcing a factory reset.

In my case it had definitely saved the new password because I had logged in again with it before I changed the ip address and it then lost both.

I found that the latest firmware upgrade from vodafone NZ for the HG659 installs the same common internet logon and password as the Ultra Hub.

My Ultrahub seems to have updated itself out of the blue, while it was being used. I surmise this because it was inaccessible for a while, the login screen has changed its layout, and the password was reset to the one on the base. It has remembered the IPv4 range, and the fixed IPv4 addresses I had set up.

It says its firmware level is now 17.1.7862-2461001-CRF716. I hadn't made a note of the level before.

Do I surmise correctly? Is there a way I control this, so that it happens at a more convenient time? Why the password reset? That was quite frustrating, it was a while till I realized what had happened.

From Vodafone Devices Team - "there are no firmware updates enabled for the Ultra Hub at present, with the first one due in the next week or two. All updates are done between midnight and 6am. CRF716 and CRF725 are the factory shipped versions. Also, the login screen has always been the same layout even in pre-release versions"

So not sure what happened with you there.... a reboot maybe - noting that there is a bug with not keeping updated login passwords when rebooted (fix coming)

Yeah, its been the same even on the older routers. Its not really relevant now though as the connections use port based authentication and dont use the un/pw anymore.
