Free is free for the redirect.
Redirect is personalised, you can't change the designated email, can't use the domains closing or repeat submission. Not clear on what you mean by hole?

What I mean is what is there to stop person A from asking for a redirect of email owned by person B? It may take some users weeks to request a redirect. Plenty of time for other people to request a redirect from what I can see.

It looks like you can't add an outlook.co.nz alias on an existing Microsoft account. Frustrating as the email I'd like to use is available @outlook.co.nz but not @outlook.com, and I have a lot of things attached to the existing account.

I created a new account for the parents from the outlook.co.nz sign in page, and they can now choose @outlook.com or @outlook.co.nz when adding aliases. FYI the only way I could find to do this is to follow the sign in / sign up links from MSN NZ - otherwise you can only sign up with outlook.com.

Even the Vodafone links don't do this, so a lot of people are going to end up with johnsmith345346@outlook.com or @gmail.com when johnsmith@outlook.co.nz might be available.

Only person b will receive an email with the correct code to redirect email. If person a tries to input email address without code or changes the email address for their own coded link, it will be rejected.

If your email and your email address is important to you why not consider getting a domain for your family?
For example registerdirect.co.nz offer up to 10 email accounts with IMAP and webmail for about $60 a year. Share that with 5 family members and you are looking at about $1 a month each.

You could also sign up with a rock solid provider such as Zohomail for free for multiple users and get all the benefits of webmail, EAS/ActiveSync and collaboration. The only costs are your domain which could be anything from $10 - $20ish per year if you want a .co.nz

I think most of us here know what a domain name is and how to use it, personally I'm not interested in supporting an email platform for family when there's some decent free options.

I fixed the outlook.co.nz alias problem - just find the "en-US" in the URL, change to "en-NZ" and refresh the page before clicking "add email"

Still peeved. I use Zoho (Free Plan) as provider for smaller (super) budget conscious clients just getting started or in transition. I used them as a failover for my own business email when my Exchange Server died. I may just get the family members up and running on the platform again, possibly with my newly registered 'ihug.online' domain. Petty I know, but it was only $3.

The Zoho FREE PLAN includes :-

25 Users + up to 25 referral bonus users
5GB* /User, 20MB Attachment Limit
Single domain hosting.

What isn't mentioned is the SPAM control and the dedicated mobile app for email.

I was a bit disappointed with Zohomail - their EAS/ActiveSync only does the last six months.

I know some older people who still have a Clear.net email address and are still on a current dialup account but obviously haven't dialed in. They are not currently not paying a bill on monthly basis. Will those people still have mail forwarding?

Good question - are they email only or dial-up internet access? Either way forwarding will be offered and they should have an email by now.

Anyone know if the e-mails regarding forwarding are still in the process of going out? Even though there is plenty of time before it's cut off, I've got my parents harassing me wanting me to get it setup ASAP but the e-mail for their old ihug e-mail address hasn't come through yet.

I could just block their texts on my phone temporarily instead as a temp fix. Heh.

If they should have received it by now, what to do?

I received the email yesterday on my ihug account.
