I have installed Yosemite on my 27" iMac, the download weighed in at over 5GB and took quite a while to download even on my 100mbps BB. It is release day so to be expected. The install didn't take long then then was a raft of updates.

Machines will run a bit slow after install while it all sorted in the background for Spotlight etc.

What do I think? its OK, it will take some time to get used to but it does look good and I am a fan of the flattened look even though I had some trpidations about it before hand. Notifications are good and the email App seems to be better, iTunes looks good. I am still getting to grips with it will post back later.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Wanted to test out the text message from computer to see if it worked but only realised after 15 minutes of trying that it isn't enabled til next week with iOS 8.1. handoff from mail and messages seems to work good, I tried with safari but since I have chrome as my default browser that seems to break it, when I put safari as the default it works alright it seems.

I believe if you have Mavericks installed, Yosemite is able to be installed. not sure beyond that.

Put it on my MacBook Pro, didn't take that long at all to download and install.
Looks good so far.

Heh well It's been sitting for 20 minutes at 21 minutes remaining and another 22 or so minutes since it changed to 21. At this rate I'll die of old age.

Installed this afternoon. Have to say I am very pleasantly surprised with how well the machine runs, I reckon slightly better than under 10.9. Several years old MBP with not a huge amount of ram.
Dark dock and menu bar look great on the TV.

Cheers
Joseph

OT but does anyone know how I can remove the apple account reference if I go to update a specific app and it wants me to login to the apple store as an id  that belonged to the prior person who owned this notebook? It won't let me change it, it's greyed out.

The red orange and green icons to the top left look stupid.

Re: Account, if it's a free app then you'll need to delete and redownload it. If it's a paid app then don't ask for help with piracy :)

An odd thing, the transparency on nmy iMac is not as pronounced as it is con nmy sons Macbook, I have toggled the settings for it but his is more transparent. It is most noticable in the notifications.

I don't like the new basic look of the interface, to me it looks fugly and childlike :-(

The new fonts used are nice though.

Not used it enough to know if it's any snappier or not.
