Jase2985:Geektastic:Jase2985: what issue is that? there is no issues for those born in NZ
the issue is when people come from the UK and Europe, and are used to one thing and expect to see the same thing that they are used to here.
And vice versa.
Of course it makes sense to use standard units - otherwise we may as well start measuring distance in 'Pies' and temperature in "hats" or something. By your 'logic', as long as 4 million people understood what it meant it would be fine.
yep but we are in NZ and over here we have decided to use g/m2 for things like this, sorry. maybe if you were here when we were deciding on what to you you could have made a submission.
TOG is not and SI unit of measure so your bottom argument has no basis as a TOG is about as relevant as a g/m2 in the scheme of things.

Which, indirectly, speaks to my point.
There SHOULD be a standard measurement adopted worldwide, be it ISO, BS, ANSI, TOG, g/m2 or whatever.
It's inefficient and pointlessly confusing to use multiple non-standard methods and units of measurement. For anything, not just duvets.
As I said earlier, the greatest piece of this idiocy is without doubt having dozens of different numbers worldwide to get the Emergency Services.
networkn:What's worse, if you ring 911, by accident, instead of forwarding you to 111, you get a message (SLOWLY) telling you the emergency number for NZ is 111, 1 1 1, please hang up and call 1 1 1
I already died waiting for the end of the message :)

Indeed, why don't they just redirect it?

Shouldn't we just all speak one language then and program in one language and perhaps we should all drive on the left and RHD cars.
Who's going to volunteer to tell China they can't use chop sticks anymore because a fork is now the industry standard?

Eating utensils can cause confusion - for instance, in a UK recipe, a tablespoon is about twice as big as the same word means in a NZ recipe!

in the UK they use gallons and in the US they also use gallons and they are a different measurement, oh no how will we ever cope.
a UK table spoon is 15ml, in NZ its 20ml, thats twice as big.
