School Holidays, for 2 weeks the roads are clear and travelling on them is a joy.

Ordered an Ultimaker 2+ Ext for the office :-)

When we were in Hawaii we found a swimming vest for my daughter, it was $7 and has given her confidence in the water. Last night he figured out how to keep herself upright and propel herself around the pool.

We tried to help her but she was having none on it, she has her wheels and wants to do it all herself. the giggles and joy as she figured out she could spin, splash and even play peek-a-boo while cruising around the pool was priceless.

We found with both of our kids, taking them to Hawaii gave them a huge boost of confidence in the water. We weren't initially sure why, however it turns out its the temperature of the water. We also got one of those vests (are they the blow up ones) and our kids loved them. 

I have found it both rewarding and surprising watching my kids learn to do things I take for granted. Watching my Son learn to read and then the impact that had on things like a simple car ride, where all of a sudden the world opens up for him, being able to float unassisted for 10 minutes, all those things.. Amazing.

Hah, reminds me of once on a Mac forum, someone was categorically stating that you need a 64-bit OS to access more than 4 GB of RAM. This is not Windows, people!

Exceed is a marvellous outfit. They have fixed several things for us and friends - eg. track slider/carriages on 20 yo aluminium bi-fold deck doors that I would never have expected them to have parts for. One friend had some huge, massively-heavy wooden-frame glass doors out to their deck which wouldn’t slide properly - and Exceed fixed those too. Can’t speak highly enough of them.

On a related note - the wheels on our ancient shower sliding door gave up / disintegrated a few months ago, so we had to heave / drag the door closed. Got some replacements from local plumbing supplies and it now glides blissfully. They actually get them custom made from metal and ball bearings instead of the plastic originals.

What is it like looking out the side windows at that speed, I hate it in a car, I am not saying my wife drives that fast it just feels like it. Nausea soon sets in. My wife loves the high speed trains in China.

Feels like it does as you rip down the runway in a plane I'd imagine. I don't get motion sickness so it didn't bother me much. My wife gets motion sickness but the thrill overcame that and she was fine. 

I like trains, though I do have unfond memories of the train from auckland to Wellington when I was a teenager (some 20 years ago) noisy clackery frequently stopping horror.

By comparison about 8 years ago we went from picton to CHCH in the train and that was AWESOME. Esp Kaikoura.

my wife loves speed she is crazy when driving at a track. Age has slowed me but I do want to do the Mig Challenge but I have to get more able before I can risk that.

On my list is the 200MPH challenge when I go to Vegas next. I did two of their other tours, took 4.8M of supercars to the Hoover Dam and parked them and took photos. Was an excellent experience. Not cheap, but not that expensive either.

We weren't allowed to drive very quickly, but the biggest surprise at the time was how awesome the Jaguars were.
