I understand that some people have allergies but surely there is no need to write on a container of milk (which lists the ingredients as milk) "contains milk" or a jar of peanut butter (which lists the ingredients as peanuts and salt) "contains peanuts"?

Surely "Contains whatever" is useful when it is not blindingly obvious that those things might be present, but when the product is in effect just those things, not so much.

Probably not hard if you know what it means (I do not), but you assume that everyone knows what BBC is. I had never even heard of it (much less used it or been familiar with the myriad of instructions) before discovering this site. Other than a news and entertainment organisation...

Most people type and think in plain English, as it were. For example, shortening quotes (something often complained of here) is easy on the more WP style forum software - just highlight the bits you do not want and hit delete.

My takeways today both came in a plastic container, that will go straight into the rubbish when finished, and a drink in a plastic bottle and they couldnt put them in a plastic bag because they are evil . Either ban all plastics and find something else  but dont pick and choose which plastics you will ban.

Obviously it would be completely impractical to ban all plastics at the moment. But plastic supermarket (and takeaway) bags are something we *can* live without.

I expect that the plastic bag ban is just the first step towards wider bans of plastics. Particularly petroleum-based plastics. Over time, alternatives will be found e.g. PLA is now apparently used for coffee cups. (Which surprised me, given the low melting point of PLA). Maybe next year the styrofoam food containers will go.

That my cat, who has the freedom of the great outdoors, comes inside just to use the litterbox.
