Unrelated, but today I got a call from a nz post shop saying they have a registered parcel being delivered friday from New Delhi. I don't know anyone there :)

Actually I am pretty sure it might be the 22 million that email told me I could expect from the Prince of Mumbai after the death of his father, that they needed that $2400 to "process the payment" with.

What's your estimated delivery date?

The local agencies might be putting the packages on hold if there is still time before the target delivery date.

Turns out it came from a jewellery shop in India, and it was the batteries I ordered from Grabone!

Anyone got anything weirder than that happen today ?

So strange the they are quite happy to deliver batteries from overseas, but try and send anything with a battery in it and they act like you are trying to ship some hazardous waste or something.

Haha!

Reminds me of trying to send back my first Kindle a while ago, had to bring up the rules around battery capacity on my phone to show them and eventually request another person to process my shipping as they repeatedly told me I had to remove the battery (how?).

Or the outright refusal to post a used cellphone with the battery removed - drove to the next post office and sent it there.

Discovered this by accident yesterday ordering a speaker - I obviously hadn't been paying enough attention to Geekzone. Put my order through really quickly thinking there was some mistake, then came on here and found that it was no mistake! Good for us but will only make it tougher for local retailers.

Lol i went through this recently also. Wanted to send a camera that had the battery inside. Was news to me. Ended up sending it without the battery at all. If included separately in the packaging they wanted to drop test it from 1.2m?!!

I suck at shopping, cant find anything I want on amazon. Since im more worried about sorting the house out at the moment and the US uses half voltage nothing from there is any use, if it was amazon uk then it would be more use to me.

I would be interested in knowing what type of products people buy from amazon, and the products that do qualify for this free shipping to NZ. I selected both global shipping, and amazon.com as the filters, but when I got to eeh checkout page, I got a message to say that the products don't ship to my country for quite a few of the products that I chose. eg shoes. I think amazon really need to make it easier. I suspect they block some product due to the size of the packaging. I have in the past just purchased using youpost, as it is easier and there is no restriction on the products they will sell to NZ.

I found the same thing, e.g. Puma shoes, they must have some arrangement as you cannot ship these to NZ, however DC Shoes will.
So I don't believe it is a size restriction

I recently bought a Gigabyte Brix Ultra Compact PC from Amazon and separately a mSATA drive. Both came with free shipping. Interestingly at the time the only model Brix that had free shipping was the Celeron version, the others with i5 or i7 processors did not. And yet all were sold by Amazon.

But now the policy has changed. For example here are two model Brix PC's from Amazon

This one is US shipping only
