Back in the last millenium, I was brought into a company to manage their Lotus Notes system (back in the days when both the server and client were called Notes, none of this Domino malarky!).

I started being called "The Notes Gnome". I liked it, and have used it ever since.

Thinking back, I miss that product...

Arrrgh, flashbacks to a 45k user company I used to sysadmin for who bought Lotus Notes and instead of using it for its (at the time) magnificent intended purpose decided to use it as an email client instead. Horrible, horrible flashbacks on an empty stomach...

Well mine is obviously from the 1986 movie. I think I created it for use on a forum and wanted it to look a little different so I put in the capitals and stuck a Z on the end so it relates to NZ. Nothing flash and now finding others have used it so my alternate is ToPDaDCoM which is my playstation name. I think my wife helped with that one, keeps topgun in it, I'm a dad and com for using the internet.

Name came from a racehorse with the same name.....

Very funny You Tube clip of it winning a race and the caller having to say it out loud. Appealed to my inane sense of humour.

wombus: I'm originally from Wimbledon in UK so I was Womble, I joined a gaming clan for Wolfenstien (RtCW) called SPQR so I romanised Womble to Wombus.

and there I was thinking you had a speech impediment :-)

Mine is just the personalised plate that I have on my track car.

It's a Mitsubishi Evo 6 which (with all the modesty I can muster) sets fiendishly quick laptimes. ...and I couldn't resist the double-entendre that comes from pronouncing it with an Australian accent.

The car was also the source of my "offline" nickname which was DoctorEvo (a riff on Austin Powers' Doctor Evil). Nowadays, most of my friends just call me "Doc".

Mine came from days of gaming and using an Athlon XP 2500+ (Barton core @ 3200+ speeds) and because I like buying and using under dog hardware like AMD CPU's and GPU's and getting them to run, well, better than they should with small over-clocks so hence the nick Athlonite and so for the last 14 years it's stuck

It came around back when I first started playing Eve Online. Well actually, shortly after I restarted from fresh, because I stuffed up my attributes (for all you new players - If there are any in here - we used to not be able to remap our attributes... So if you stuffed them up, they were stuffed for good - until the remapper came along -) On my original Character.

Created the new Character (Dairusire), and I created the name based off of the race / Sub-race that I had selected for the Character, which Was Caldari (Main Race) and sub Race of Civire. Ever since it's been my Handle where-ever I go, as it's somthing truly unique to myself only :)

Mine was a number plate from my old commodore, was easy to remember and I didn't get "name taken" every time when signing up to a service or need to have a number combination at the end.

My GZ nick isn't the one I usually use - Jazzy, which is in reference to an 90's DJ's name that some of my friends call me.
And actually I don't use that one online much, to common it seems as it is almost always taken, so often I use yzzaJ
